When Ferrari did challenge Mercedes with enough engine power and even more it turned out they were tricking the fuel flow sensor, so my guess is Mercedes cheated their way to domination and are still doing it, because 8 years and still no other engine manufacturer to match them, it is not logical at all.
This turbo hybrid platform was discussed years ago in F1.....so far back as Max Mosley and Bernie Eccelstone were still around. Bernie was against the platform but he had no say against the FIA, which is why it was one of the reasons he sold F1 to Liberty Media. Now at that time Italy, Japan, and France were not into hybridization when it came to Motorsports.......but Germany was with the likes of Porsche, Audi and a distant Mercedes. Mercedes jumped on the platform....early.....and someone in the FIA passed it.......along with agreement from Ferrari and Renault......Honda joined in 2015 and were the laughing stock on the F1 grid.

This turbo hybrid platform was executed with efficiency, performance and reliability by Mercedes. Ferrari had their own platform along with Renault and Honda....but it was'nt like Mercedes to which Honda followed suit in 2017 and Ferrari along with Renault will "copy" the platform in 2022.

This turbo hybrid era platform is'nt like a the days of just an ICE unit or ICE with KERS platform which offered parity among teams and manufactureres. This turbo hybrid platform was and still is a completely different animal.

I still find it hard to believe that Merc have been able to stay so far ahead for so long, legally!
YW. I don't see Ferrari and ?Renault being on par with Mercedes until a couple of years....till they work "the bugs out." Honda has gotten the lead on the platform. All VW(Porsche) has to do is just stamp their name on the "new" PU and make upgrades to it along with the help of ex-Mercedes staff working for RedBull's engine dept. facility.

RedBull will be very competitive with Mercedes in the eingine dept starting in 2022 onwards.....RedBull is playing the long game with it's new engine facility and hiring credible staff.

If Perez can win a race from the back; so can either of our drivers. Faith; hope; luck !!

That's as maybe but I sincerely hope that Ferrari's 2022 engine will be on par with Merc and Honda/RB or whoever stamps their name on RB's PU, it will be frozen from the outset so it had better be reliable and powerful from the start, otherwise I ask again, what is the point?

Must be nice to live in the area of F1 teams and engine manufactureres.........an energy drink company taking control of a turbo hybrid PU and hiring ex-Mercedes staff to run it with a possible affilition with Porsche in the future......thngs are looking great for RedBull.

Oh God, so Porsche may enter into the F1 fray with RB's Merc-influenced engine and wipe the floor with everyone, just as Ferrari are returning to the WEC and their efforts diluted accordingly. Lovely, just what we needed!

Let's not forget that in 2025 the engines will no longer be these complex hybrid lumps so Merc's influence may die out and hopefully engines will become something that Ferrari excel at.

Ferrari build great engines no doubt. They had the best hybrid engine in 2019 it was ahead of its time, disgruntled ex employees who were shown the door with one in particular squelling like a pig to mercedes and red bull and we all know what happened after that.If not for the squelling ferrari would be at the front 100%.The 2022 engine will be a beauty until another squeller spills his guts because he is shown the door.As we say loose italian lips sinks ships, in this case ferrari.

3 races are done for 2021 and Ferrari is heavily focused on the 2022 car already.

Ferrari has switched ’90-95%’ of resources to its 2022 car

Mekies: "We’ve switched the large majority of our resources to 2022 already. It doesn’t mean some details won’t change on the car [for this year]. But the focus is on next year. If you want to put a number to it, 90-95% our resources are onto 2022."

Ferrari on the podiums 2021 !!! Our drivers are really trying and doing what they can. Even being burdened with Binotto abandoning the current year as hopeless. Both Charles and Carlos want to be Ferrari's drivers come renewal time over and over. I even have faith that Mick will this season get a point or more !!

Williams Racing in the upcoming Monaco GP, will have competed in there 750th GP. This achievement has been done by two other Teams, Ferrari and McLaren. The Team was formed in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams, and has attracted drivers like Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, David Coulthard, Jacques Villneuve, Jenson Button, Ralf Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya, Mark Webber, Rubens Barichello, Felipe Massa etc.
Williams have a created a calculator, which works out how long you have been a supporter of the Team. You put in details of the first race that you watched, then it works out how many races you have supported them for.
There is also a Competition where 100 Winners will have there Name and Number of Races supported, on the Halo of the cars during the Monaco GP race weekend.
The good times WILL return, and FERever.

This makes complete sense, as this year is done and dusted since last year. So there is no reason to put any effort to this car when it is a lost cause!

Yup. To be honest, I wouldn't feel bad if Ferrari slip down the ranking this year due to any lack of development.
We need whatever head start we can get over our rivals.

I doubt Merc would right now put anything less than 50% on next season as well.

Nothing wrong with having fans from other teams posting here, as long as they remain respectful to Ferrari and it's drivers.

I'd rather have non Ferrari fans who are being respectful over those foul mouthed so called Ferrari fans who always bash the team, pit crews and team personnel and think there is some kind of mega conspiracy at work against Ferrari.

True. The worst we can finish this year is 4th. Alpine and Alpha Tauri can't consistently outperform us and Aston Martin is a clownshow so they'll be lucky to beat Alfa Romeo by the end of the year.

The title fight could never have come at a better time, I hope it drags till the end of the season forcing both Mercedes and RedBull to be distracted from 2022. I'm still worried about McLaren though.

I think Ferrari will use this season to keep honing correlation between it's wind tunnel, CFD and simulator. 3rd or 4th is irrelevant really, but seeing upgrades work first time out or seeing new processes being optimized can really help for next year.

For me 3rd place podiums are very relevant . Ferrari finishing ahead of every other team along with R Bull and Merc makes the Races worth watching. Any up front slip up and we can finish even better. McLaren needs to worry about Ferrari not the other way around. A Charles podium @ Monaco !!!!

Correct the mcmuffins need to worry about ferrari.3rd is the target and very achievable.A few problems with merc and redbull and its game on.As the season progresses real fire works will develop between max and lewis its to quiet. I expect some on track wars with both or one of them coming off second best.

Like the Mclaren livery, looks pretty cool.

Monaco is Charles's home race, but it's also a bogey track for him. Two reliability related DNF's in F2, brake failure in 2018, Ferrari botched up his qualifying in 2019 and as a result, crashed out of the race.

Hopefully this year's race will be a change of luck for him.

Expect some track specific modifications. Monaco is an outlier, we're not going to have any other track with the same characteristics like Monaco. This track is all about maximum downforce so teams will put as much downforce as well possible without caring about aero efficiency or drag.

On it.motorsport, they mentioned that we might have the new floor with the 3 fins in front of the rear tires.
They where the ones who said early on that we won't have it in Spain, so let's see ...!!!!
