Both Ferrari and Alpine are yet to turn up their engine. But Ferrari is in 5th, Alpine is in P15.

Well there we go. We're not the only ones turning down the engine, so all the talk about us lifting and turning down the engine doesn't really mean much if everyone else is doing it.

Still though, I'm very sure we are better than last year's positions.

Alpine most of time was running with hard tyres I think.

Anyway it's just FP1. We can't know until Q3 imo.

Leclerc 11 km/h slower than his testing time, when he did 1m30.4 on C3 mediums in a 44C track. Raikkonen 322 km/h, only 5 km/h slower than his testing time.

Sainz is also 11km/h slower than is testing time, when he did 1m29.6 on C4 softs in a 28C track.

Pole will be in the 28's or high 27's. Times not near that but time comparisons are more relevant as the sessions pass, like testing is the base of a pyramid and times move up until quali which is the point of the pyramid as all teams are going as fast as they can

After fp1 Ferrari look around expectations, neck and neck with McLaren as best of the rest but so far looks like either of them could get Perez in quali, gaps to the best are closer thus far but obviously RB and Merc may well spread this out. FP2 will be more representative. Should have a form of quali run and small race sim as normal in FP2.

I guess that's just a matter of personal preference. I would like it if both of them were replaced by Rosberg and Button.

Agreed! Brundle is actually pretty good and generally fair in his judgments...now Crofty and Kravitz on the other hand are unbelievably Bias to anything Merc and bad mouth Ferrari at every and any turn they get too... hope we make them eat some humble pie, if not this year, at least the next!

    Sainz P2 - 0.045s behind hamilton

kraptiz cant believe it, we must have less fuel on board. Norris goes P1 and its a great lap, we go fast and its less fuel.

What a strange session. P1-P14, separated by less than a second.

Yeah, sky commentators are horrible. I wonder what's an alternative english-speaking commentary.

Yup Croft is saying the same. "We need to take Sainz' time out of the equation of the top for come qualifying". They can't do impartial journalism.

What's the thinking of reducing FP1 and FP2 duration by 30min? Cost savings? The teams are already there, might as well run. If is cars burning a few more gallons of fuel? Just makes no sense to me

This guy Croft is just a thing. I wish he was at the table I served him back in 2018 in London in the restaurant so I could smash that Provence Rose bottle in his stupid face. This guy is retarded.

Other than that, I see very positive signs.

I quite like these 1 hour runs instead of the 90min runs.
It's not how start but how you finish.
