For me the most interesting parts will be:
    1. Sainz Q performance
    2. If we bring any new parts
    3. Tyre management

First high downforce track on the calendar. Last year Leclerc was P4, 30 seconds ahead of Perez in P5.

I think we are in for a solid weekend here. We missed an easy podium at Imola due to bad luck, hopefully luck will favor us here.

Hoping for a podium! Maybe a tad optimistic but if things go our way and one or two have issues then you never know! We extracted everything we had out of the car we could at Imola but that start finish straight killed us, especially with the extra drs and also the climb up the hill.

Not had both Mercs and Red Bulls have straight forward weekends yet, if they do 5th place is where it's at. I am focusing on out qualifying and beating the lead McLaren here, should of happened last race but for the red flag.

Since the main straight is short and it's all about corner speed, front row is not out of the question if all things go well for Charles. Faster than both Mercedes cars in S2 at Imola after all. That being said, race pace-wise it will be much harder.

Just to say that this Saturday will be 27 years since the San Marino GP at Imola. It was the 1st May 1994 when Ayrton Senna passed away. It was a horrible race weekend as Roland Ratzenberger died the previous qualifying day.
Hoping for an entertaining race to Honour these two drivers. Just hope George Russell and Valtteri Bottas can stay apart from each other.
The good times WILL return, and FERever.

The main straight isn't short. From turn 15 to turn 1 is flat out. But nobody is going to set up the car for straight line speed, unlike Imola and Bahrain where more than 75% of the lap is full throttle.

It's a high downforce track like Spain. And it should suit our car well. I wouldn't be surprised if Charles qualifies on the front row. But our main goal should be to put a big distance between us and Mclaren and get closer to Merc-Red Bull race pace.

Agreed, but I fear that Mclaren will be our biggest enemy and Norris is on form. Charles will be anxious to get him back after Imola but I don't believe our engine has the power to carry it off. I hope I'm wrong!

You’re right, and it’s a fact that our engine still lacks prolly 20hp or so compared to McLarens merc engine....but hopefully our chassis is better than theirs and we’ll make some time through the corners

RedBull bring a revised rear diffuser plus side vanes and floor with more aero bits.

Decent Session. Charles on it as always from the get go, Sainz also looked solid.

Car is working well in medium and high speed corners. But it's early days.

Long run pace is looking solid. I think Ferrari still have room for setup improvement.

Surprised to see the Alpines in P5/6 in FP2, ahead of Charles P7, Perez and both Mclarens, so hope any set-up changes for our ragazzi will bring them a bit closer to the front tomorrow. Carlos doing a good job in P4.

Ferrari is testing a new floor....more aero bits or elements in the rear part of the floor next to the rear wheel. Unfortunately, it won't be used during the race. The new floor will be used at the SpanishGP.

Quali is where it counts. There are alot of variables during free practices.

Ferrari has brought a new floor today. Charles tested it in FP1, while Carlos tested it in FP2. Both finished P4 when they used the new floor.

    BUT!!!!!!

Motorsport Italy reports that Ferrari only managed to produce one new floor and won't use it this weekend, to avoid favoritism among the drivers...

So the new floor will debut in the #SpanishGP

seems about 4-5 tenths gain with the new floor or my calculations are wrong; both about half a second faster when using the new floor

Then Ferrari should flip a coin....that’s fair enough....someone uses it and collect valuable data while at it....so that way we try to stay ahead of the McLarens as they are pretty strong this season with the amerc engine

The fact is that the Leclerc is in better shape than the Sainz, so Ferrari should immediately use it on the car No.16,given the fact that the new bottom is already> 0.2 better.

They should give it to the driver that's been best so far that's LeClerc. They MUST maximise every chance. Cannot hold back your best driver to date as it hurts feelings. Ferrari have not said this so guessing the journalist is fantasizing with their socialist ideals....some are more equal than others, deal with it.

He's 2 races into his 3rd season with Williams , zero points. He took the Merc rocket for a ride and finished 9th behind Bottas even though the car got him to pass the pole driver. Give him a few more seasons and he will be in the mix for sure. At least in the points.
