The car is fast, and it will be unleased in the qualifying. Until then, hold on to your nerves.

(I am expecting the car to be more dialed up for tomorrow.)
I hope you're right, tifosi, it still looked like it was porpoising with Charles (I didn't see Carlos in the morning stint) but the team did appear to be trying various options including strange wires to the front wing, and that strange dent in the nose was a bit weird in the morning session. Day 1 and not attemping to top the timesheets leaves more room for the real power to be unleashed later!

Saw what looked like porpoising today for both drivers.

Not worried about porpoising. It was never the issue last year. And it's impossible to solve this phenomenon. Due to the immense downforce the SF23 is creating with the floor, it is impossible to seal the floor properly, hence the porpoising.

Actually, I would've been worried right now, had not been porpoising as it did today.

Impossible to solve the porpoising. And the porpoising we saw today looked a lot more docile than last year's.

According to Vasseur, porpoising wasn't an issue today.

    Good start.

Solid day in terms of laps and reliability.

The pessimist in me says RedBull have the championship locked up, and we maybe fighting with AM and Merc for 2nd/3rd

The optimist in me says they are laying low and will unleash the SF23 come Q3.

Let’s hope it’s the latter lol

red bull got TONS of downforce, and it is NOT porpoising at all... or at least what the critics that are at the track are saying

that's what i keep hearing, but others seem to think that it was OK....but maybe they;ll do some setup change overnight and the car will be on RAILS tomorrow....one can only hope right??

but it is testing after all.....but at the same time last year we looked SOLID in testing from the get go, apart from porpoising of course which was pretty visible last year on the Ferrari

One thing is for certain, there is no messing around this week, there are only 3 testing days permitted before the start of the season. Any issues that we see teams having after 3 days will likely continue on into the start of the season unless upgrades are already planned (which is the case for certain teams).

    Helmut Marko:

“Everything worked straight away for us. We are very satisfied.”

“Ferrari and Mercedes are our rivals, and they will be close.”

“They both still have problems. I’m surprised that the Ferrari is still bouncing so much, we didn’t expect that.”

so we abort the development last year from the French GP ,to come now and still bouncing a lot !!!!! I struggle to believe Freds words that its not porpoising but something else minor. I dont know if this car trully has potential hidden ,but Im afraid that they will be o lot of GPs till we figure it out .
    FERRARI FOR EVER !!!!!!!

If Ferrari haven’t figured out the problems yet and are still 2nd-3rd best, then we will not win a championship in this rule cycle. I really hope this is not the case and we can challenge for victories right away.

New floor for the Scuderia on day 2.

yeah, but he was all smiles and over the moon when he drove it at the launch as well as the filming day.....what happened???
oh, he wasn't pushing the limits of the car then....now that he's pushing he prolly realizes this car is still second best....i hope not
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

I fail to understand why each year people draw out conclusion based on testing times. These times are still more than 2s off from 2022 Qualifying and these cars are expected to go even faster. Alonso being P2 just behind Verstappen, Championship is locked and we are fighting Aston Martin, really??

Just as a reference 2011 testing in Barcelona:

    Ferrari F150th Italia – 1m22.625
    Mercedes W02 – 1m23.168
    Red Bull RB7 – 1m23.315
    Renault R31 – 1m23.463
    Toro Rosso STR6 – 1m23.519
    McLaren MP4-26 – 1m23.858
    Williams FW33 – 1m24.008
    Lotus T128 – 1m24.242
    Sauber C30 – 1m24.243
    Force India VJM04 – 1m25.194
    Virgin MVR-02 – 1m26.598
    HRT-Dallara F110 – 1m27.044

    Actual Qualifying:

    Pos Driver Constructor Q3
    1 *Mark Webber Red Bull Racing-Renault 01:21.0
    2 *Sebastian Vettel Red Bull Racing-Renault 01:21.2
    3 *Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 01:22.0
    4 *Fernando Alonso Ferrari 01:22.0
    5 *Jenson Button McLaren-Mercedes 01:22.0
    6 *Vitaly Petrov Renault 01:22.5
    7 *Nico Rosberg Mercedes 01:22.6
    8 *Felipe Massa Ferrari 01:22.9
    9 *Pastor Maldonado Williams-Cosworth 01:23.0
10 *Michael Schumacher Mercedes no time1

You guys really need to get a grip. Ferrari not topping the testing season, and it's all doom and gloom here.

With the help of less angled Rear wing , SF-23 Just topped 308 km/h without DRS. And i believe the fuel tank was full.

Leclerc was defending himself with 280 km/h last year at the race
