From RTL: Kubica's advisor Stephane Samson saying that Kubica's life is not in danger but he has severe injuries on left hand and leg. They don't know yet what kind of injuries.

I suppose he was sedated for the pain. They had to cut him out of the car, and that took a while.

Hoping he is okay, I hate all the speculation after something like this. I felt a bit sick when I first logged on this morning and read the news.
Hopefully there will be official statements soon. Poor Bobby K

Most speculation is possitive as regards his life which is perhaps a good sign. You'd imagine some form of truth would be filtering out by this stage so here's hoping.

If they don´t know yet what kind of injuries it is, this may be good news, because the media cannot now more than his advisor and so all the rumors about him loosing his abitiltiy to handle his hand seem to be exaggerated.

Reports from other drivers present: the crash happened during racing. Robert was taken out of the car after 1 full hour since the guardrail penetrated the car. The guardrail had hit one foot, which was heavily wounded.

On the picture of the car you can see a hole in the drivers door if that is where the rail went...i hope we will get something official soon.

again the italian tv said that he's risking the right hand. In 30 minute will be released a medical bulletin. All the online italian newspapers are giving the same version, speaking about the right hand totally crashed.

I'd rather not see those pictures posted here- just watching the news on n24.de. They said Kubica is undergoing surgery right now and that the doctors are at the moment considering an amputation of his left hand. More news probably in about 30 minutes, anything official has been postponed.

Well the suggestions that a prominent hand surgeon is involved is a positive (if the hand stuff is true) as any old orthopaedic consultant surgeon can do an amputation, so a hand specialist would be brought in for reconstructive surgery. At this point though it's all speculation. Keeping everything crossed for Bob x

Not yet. They are quite busy i suppose. Only 'official' statement so far:

13:55 Dr. Carrozzino Hospital Santa Corona announced that Kubica has been tested to assess possible damage to internal organs and brain. Asked about the possibility of amputation of hands, Carrozzino replied that no decision has yet been taken. "The decision of amputation can not be taken lightly. I do not deny nor confirm. "

Thank you, guys. The fact that they do not deny the possibility of an amputation is bad enough

I have every hope for his complete recovery so that gets back to his old
amusing self. Let's all close our eyes and join hands in our minds to wish the

With all those buttons on a F1 car steering wheel you would need 3 hands to operate them all. At least two in perfect condition.
