Looks exactly the same like our old car... I guess plan was to spend this day running old car, then switch to updated one tomorrow and compare results. Pretty much like in the old days when we ran two different cars simultaneously and compared them. If I am correct then Ferrari didn't lose much due to bad weather so far.

Exhaust is pointing downwards - why are we testing an illegal exhaust?

Maybe they plan to lower exhaust to the height it's at in the photograph, but they don't yet have the bodywork ready. Instead, they're simulating it at the height it will be when the housing is complete - at which point, it won't be pointing downwards.

    Just a thought.

How is this exhaust "new"? We have been testing exactly the same variation during pre season tests... Yes it's probably more refined now but nothing "new" really. I'm still hoping that it's just :beta" test and tomorrow we will see the real thing.

For 2012, the final portion of the exhaust must point between 10 and 30 degrees upwards. It's also allowed to point sideways plus or minus 20 degrees (I think).

At the moment, it's illegal because it's pointing down.

Wait until the final days of the test and for Barcelona FP. We plan to finish this package in Montmeló, not on the first day in Mugello.

Let's just wait till day 3 folks, they need to gain data on old setup first to compare it on this track... Geez...

A little update from Scarbs twitter about what our competitors are doing.

They have always said they would be looking to go back to the pre-season test config and get it working, if its working now then why do they need to ditch it for something "new" that might set us back even further?

Red Bull seems to be copying Ferrari Front wing design. They have a similar main flap on their wing & also the position of the camera housing ailerons,They moved it from the tip of nose to inbetween the pillars.

Morning session finished with @alo_oficial quickest in 1.22.44 and 38 laps completed. It will be a long break now due to changes on the car.

Even if they get it working, I feel that the current exhaust design will never be suited to every track. It will probably need to be altered every race weekend to suit the diverse characteristics of each individual track. Just like the first 4 races, we will see the exhaust pointing somewhere different every weekend. I hope we can find a permanent set up solution to have us as main contenders for the title bid.

Why would it have to be altered? Have other teams altered theirs at every track? Once it works and doesn't destroy tyres, the only alterations will be improvements to the system which will work everywhere.
