    Maranello (Italy), 22 August 2017 –

Bad decision imo.. We just waved bye bye to the WCC until at least 2019.

It's one of those glass half-full/half-empty things. Is he a bad driver, or is he a good driver who just happened to be paired with better drivers since he moved back to Ferrari? Being beaten by Alonso and Vettel is nothing shameful. In 2013 while he was at Lotus he looked quite good and most people were excited when he was signed for a second stint at Ferrari. If Merc win the WCC (and/or the WDC) this year it will be due to their having a better car rather than a better driver lineup.

He isn't Vettel (anymore) but he is certainly a decent #2.

That's a great name for a topic! Another suggestion might been 'Kimi, one more year...again'

All I wish is that we have a great car in next year and if the opportunity comes Kimi will win a race. Or championship.

Like I said in the other thread, this is good news in my book. I love to see Kimi in a Ferrari, as long as he has the speed. Recent races have been good, he was faster than Seb in the last two, but Seb winning the WDC has priority. Looking forward to a good performance at Spa, and some good points for Ferrari

Kimi is the second driver for our team in terms of races driven and if he gets 1 more year then he will surpass even Shumacher.
He is a big part of our history, won us races and a championship,he is always welcome to Ferrari family.

I can't see any other available driver better than Kimi atm, so yeah, a good decision by the team and bring Leclerc in 2019. Hope he proves himself in Sauber next year.

Well, it's more of a wish really. Leclerc needs to prove himself first. However, judging his GP2 performance, he'll probably be extremely competitive.

i think he'll be at sauber next year, and then in 2019 when kimi will retire he'll come alongside Seb where he's gonna learn a thing or two from him
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Now that Kimi has signed.....Is Vettel gonna get "locked-in" in a 3yr contract with the Scuderia OR negotiate and sign a one year????

It is....2018 will probably be his last year stint with the Scuderia....and then it will be another 2018-2019 silly season again.

Starting with Verstappen presently 49 points behind Kimi, there are so many choices for 2019, or perhaps a rookie in Ferrari's #2 car! Ferrari needs Kimi to sign 1 yr. contracts untill he's in his 40s.

Why not? Sauber will have a big Ferrari support with new engines. They might be solid in midfield if they manage to get their chassis right. Who knows.

Nice! This means Seb has trust in the team and he extended his contract till the new engine regulations in 2021. Smart move.

A Ferrari engine does not guarantee a solid mid-field car. Sauber is struggling financially and talent-wise.

With Ferrari's backing maybe they won't' struggle that much anymore. SM stated that he wants to make Sauber a Ferrari B team.

But that won't happen overnight Stormy. Sauber will still struggle at the back of the field next year until it becomes a full fledged B team for Ferrari.

I don't know, we'll see. With proper resources everything is possible.

It has to start with getting the right talent (account for gardening leaves) as well as design & development of the 2018 car would have already been underway. I doubt Sauber will be mid-field next year.

Yeah, you have a point with this one. Oh well, the new Ferrari engine will help them somewhat, and there's still some space for Leclerc to show what he's got.
