We need to quali in front, this track is impossible to overtake.

Clearly impressed by Vettel's pace, Ricciardo has switched to supersofts too now. Verstappen is also doing a long run on the red-walled tyre. Hamilton and Raikkonen are back out and banging around on used ultras. #F1

GRO 1 tenth behind VET is a tell tale, we are working in low power mode and probably with the old engine. I read sometime ago that we were going to keep using it in free practices. And in Hungary.

Business as usual. Ferrari have got it in reverse. Race pace neck and neck, Ferrari with the edge on SS (maybe the best race tyre?)

I think quali will be as close as ever. Could go Lewis’ way this weekend but again... will be close

Why is this race one hour later than rest of European races, when it is in same time zone?

This championship race is so close, its going to be nerve wreaking watching the qualifying tomorrow.
The big thing here would be where Vettel and Lewis finishes in the race. We must do everything we can to retain the WDC lead.

Race pace of Ferrari seems very strong on both Tyres over mercs & RB.
Interesting quali tmrw. If vettel & kimi can lock out front row, it would be easy race for them.

I would be lying if I say it looks good. Although the race pace seems OK but on the other hand RBRs pace is worrying. Lewis seems to be unbeatable though. Only a PU problem can probably stop him. Bottas seems to be in trouble. Problems like that can go on for the entire weekend. Qualifying is key again. Seb will nail it but Kimi really needs to focus in Q3.

Am i seeing a different timetable???!!!
Vet had CLEARLY the best race pace!!!!!
On qualy lap i think Vet didnt do a proper one AND i read somewhere (cant find it now) that he was using his 1st pu for today.
Anyhow, its not that i totaly discard a Ham domination because he looks quite strong on his sort/qualy stints.
BUT on the other hand there are also indications that we cold also be on the top.
As usual, tomorrow and Sunday, all questions will be answered!!!!

I think A.Gio is in the sim tonight, seb said he tried different lines but he's not comfortable yet, there's potential there to improve but he doesnt have the key, hoping tomorrow will be better.

This year strategy for top3 teams is get pole, you win 80% of races on Sunday.
Rest 20% goes to SC, VSC...!!

    fastest sectors

Hamilton dominating with the new 2.1 engine

Seb losing almost an entire second to hamilton in sector 3 its insane, kimi is slower by 0.4. i think it could be the new engine and driving line, if ferrari can get the perfect racing lines we should close up a bit. crossing fingers for A.Gio to get it ready for tomorrow.

i have a feeling that it what Mercedes mean by the 2.1 with extra goodies engine, maybe its a new even higher power quali mode.

S3 is power, we probably are testing detuned and maybe first spec old engine.
We should be around HAM, FP3 will say

maybe its not just the engine but aero and suspension too thats working for Ham, since ferrari were quick in the speedtraps, bottas said they havent gotten to maximum engine power at all yet which makes sense on friday for all teams.
