BadJuju's Magic Moment |

My magic moment was in 1990. This was the year where Prost nearly won
the championship with Ferrari. I was rooting for Nigel Mansell and his
Ferrari at that time. I was in Spa with my dad that year, he had got
some VIP tickets (he had good connections with Continental.) It was
raining that day, we were totally wet, feeling like we'd rather be at
home. And this is when we hear them... The two Ferraris passing by,
going on the starting grid. The SOUND was just amazing. We were still
soaking wet but had a big grin on our faces! Once the race started, it
was amazing to see how fast the cars where driving though the corners.
What a sight!
Another magic Ferrari moment is when I went to Brussels with my dad,
driving his Ferrari Mondial Cabrio. My dad, as far as I can remember,
always had collection cars. He has bought and totally restored a 1957
300SL Mercedes Roadster. That car is a real beauty, a nice oldie with
lots of grunt. Well, it's nowhere near the Ferrari in term of how much
people will look at you with envy...
The mondial is not the most beautiful Ferrari, but you get noticed when
you drive one, believe me.
My last magic Ferrari moment is also with my dad. I was just coming back
from England, and decided I wanted to swap my Jaguar E type V12 Roadster
for a Ferrari. I wanted to get a 308 or 328 GTS so we went to a place
where there were some collection cars. Well guess what, there was no 308
or 328. The only Ferrari there were a yellow 348 GTS (but the guy was
not willing to swap, only sell for the full price) and a terrific
BB512i. The later was beautiful but way too expensive. I was not willing
to pay that much to get me a BB512. So we went back, I was a bit
disappointed but still had my Jaguar to cheer me up.
One month later, I saw my dad again, the BB was in my mind all the time,
and I told him to go ahead and swap the cars. He was ready to buy it
with me leaving me a few years to pay it back. I could hardly get any
sleep the coming week having picture of a fast red car in my mind all
the time...
For those who don't know, this is the car in my avatar. I have seen it a
few time since, and am waiting for this summer to drive it for the first
time... |
