Where would you most like to watch the Grand Prix? On
your settee at home? Or perhaps a nice seat in one of the many grandstands? The best place
to watch is from the Ferrari Paddock Club which operates at all the Grand Prix's during
the season, you will have the best seat for all the action in the pits and the finest of
food and drink.
In the past the Paddock Club operated at the European Grand Prix's and at Canada but Carlo
Tazzili, the head of Ferrari's sponsoring has expanded the club worldwide. Tazzioli who
works with charming lady assistants look after the selected guests at the Grand Prix, they
don't organise the guest's accommodation or travelling details, but once the guest's
arrive in the club they are treated to the best. Guest's arrive to the club on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday the club is usually situated on a terrace above the pit's, but at
Monaco, Silverstone, Spa, Nurburgring and Suzuka there is no such facilities so the club
has a tented village to entertain the lucky few.
"Friday is usually the quietest," says Manuela Soli, who is in charge of
Ferrari's Paddock Club activity. "Saturday is a little more lively, and Sunday is
always very busy. We usually have a number of people to come and talk to the guests
throughout the day. Mr Tazzioli talks to them, so does Claudio Berro, the press officer,
Jean Todt who is the team's sporting director and of course, the two drivers.
"On Saturday and Sunday, we also have competitions among the guests. On Saturday,
they have to guess what the grid order will be after qualifying and immediately after
qualifying is over, one of the drivers comes over and awards the prizes to those who are
closest.
Then on Sunday, it is more of a lottery: one of the drivers chooses three names at random
and presents the prizes there and then. The prizes are always something to do with
Ferrari, perhaps a leather Ferrari wallet, a Ferrari pen or sometimes even some mechanical
parts from the engine."
In between time as many of the guests as possible are shown around the Ferrari pits, this
is an honour only given to the most important of the team's guests. |
