Prancing Horse Box: F355 meets Citroen 2CV
One represents a fully-signed up CND member’s car whereas the other is all about capitalism, showboating and power.
So imagine our surprise to see details of a Citroen 2CV based on a Ferrari F355’s platform, complete with a 3.5-litre V8 engine pop up on the Internet.
This is Bill Bailey mixed with Jeremy Clarkson – and we saw how good they were on Top Gear a couple of years ago.
The Citroen-Ferrari combo is the work of Italian company Nimik who spent a painstaking 1,500 hours creating the ‘2CV Nimik’ – at a cost of £156,500.
Nimik hasn’t released any performance figures but a standard Ferrari F355 engine developed 380bhp – 10 times more than the Citroen 2CV Fourgonnette which it has been slotted into.
In its day the F355 could accelerate from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds and hit 183mph. The Fourgonnette could just about do 0-60mph, topping out at 69mph.
It’s unknown whether the 2CV can pass its original mission statement of ‘crossing a ploughed field with a basket of eggs on board, not breaking a single one of them. At 150mph’. Ok, we added the last bit but it would be one hell of a sight.
Mixing the Prancing Horse with the ‘Two Steam Horses’ (that’s what 2CV stands for) is one of the coolest modded motors we’ve seen in ages.
There’s even a video of it in action.
We don’t want to give too much away suffice to say the surprise of the car’s exhaust is akin to the moment Susan Boyle opened her mouth on Britain’s Got Talent.
