Red Bull team boss Christian Horner on Webber's problem in FP3: "It was an engine air box fire. It suffocates the engine and you lose all power. It's a rogue failure and we might have to run a slightly more conservative setting on that engine. It's nothing for us to be too concerned about."

BBC Sport's Andrew Benson at Monza: "Force India were fancied to do well at the Italian Grand Prix - one engineer from a rival team even predicted on Thursday that they would be second fastest behind McLaren. But the team admit they are not as quick as they thought they would be and are targeting getting both cars into the top-10 qualifying shoot-out as their best hope. They - like Lewis Hamilton - have been surprised by just how quick the Ferraris are. Adrian Sutil seems to be in better shape that team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi so far."

ferrari said that they have figured out why the performance that was supposed to be there at SPA, wasn't.
so maybe that's why we're more competitive here...or maybe this track suits the car better

all in all, i'm happy that we are competitive again....and hoppefully for the rest of the season..

Great quali today from both our boys. Up until the very end I thought for sure one of the McLarens might come along and snatch it.

What a day! It took us 4 hours to get from the hotel to the track this morning, but I didn't care. I knew friday practices went well but when Alonso got pole, what a great moment. What do you think about the race? Reading Massa's comments from yesterday, we should have good race pace. Whatever happens tomorrow, my first GP at Monza is already epic.

What is better in Monza? A second place on the dirty side or a third place on the clean one?

That's a good question, but I suppose it depends on how dirty the dirty side really is. Also, I suppose anyone would prefer to start closer to the front. :-)

We've had some great starts in last couple of races. Hopefully both our drivers will get away quickly and secure 1-2 into the first corner

I wonder if Jenson's extra downforce will get a chance to kick in before they get to t1? My guess not much from the start, but near the corner, it probably will let him brake just that little bit later. Hopefully Fernando and Felipe will be completely ahead by then.
Also, does anyone know what sort of disadvantage is the "dirty" side here - I don't recall it being raised as too much of an issue here???

I don't believe Jenson is solid in his starts. Fernando and Felipe will be all over him at the start. :-)

Filipe has had some some of the best start this year, may i say sometimes even the best, and in Span Alonso was already into the 6th Position (i rekon) by the end of Lap 1so here i do hope both take 1-2 and keep out of trouble that Hittel and Lewser will be creating at the start and with the good pace they build a gap of 25-30 secs so that even after the pits we are ahead of everyone.....kind of what RedBulls did at Hungary.....let us absolutely dominate and set the tracks on fire but then again i am keeping all my body parts crossed and praying for the best possible results

Awesome results. The advantage of the clean side isn't that huge in Monza, but it is an advantage. Praying for a clean start and 1-2 after first lap.

What I am a bit worried is that they are running on engine nr. 8, so there might be worries in coming races as they will have to use engines already used.

Picture this. Am on my way back home, having missed quali. Had no idea what the result was. Sitting on a remote railway station, i check into f1racing.net... dreading to see headlines such as vettel on pole or hamilton on pole... and what do i see.. ALONSO SNATCHES POLE. :-bounce
I was smiliing all they way back home. What an amazing result. 1 and 3. Also i noticed that the lewser is sandwiched between webber and vettel. :rotfl.... this could be fun. I so wish vettel finishes what he started in SPA. lol...
I am praying we get to the first corner safe and 1-2... or at the very least.. maintaining our positions. I think webbo, lewser and vettel will take each other out. Infact am really counting on it.
