After his beautiful win on Monza Fernando Alonso said his race was okay, but that it would have been very difficult, if not impossible to pass Button on track.
It had to be done by a perfect pitstop and a very fast lap the moment Button pitted.
This was what happened according to Alonso:
"When we saw Jenson coming in, there was one lap to push and then rely on the mechanics. I think my lap was more or less okay, nothing special, but the pitstop was superb."
These words are a big compliment to the pitcrew and must be a great boost for them for the coming races.

Was a great pitstop, even though the BBC said it was too slow :-D much to their dislike when Alonso came out ahead

Yea, the pitstop deserve to take a lot of credit for their job today - very slick.
Alonso has to take some himself though, he drove perfectly and pounced when he needed too. Very Schumacher esque in that respect. :-)

Please do not compare Fernando to Schoelicker- or i am liable to get very sick........sorry respect the guy greatly as a driver and what he achieved but cannot stand the arrogance of the man- even now........and if you have to watch German TV you will know exactly what i mean............

Agreed. Just like the good old days, the team come up with a strategy, told the driver what he need to do, and he just bang in those lap times. And of course our pit crew would do a perfect stop.
Hopefully this is a sign that we're going back to those days:-D

Couldn't agree more. The pit stop was fabuloso! And, it was done with them knowing the pressure that was on them - woo hoo - we have a great pit crew.
Alonso does deserve credit for his in lap, that gave the pit crew the chance to put him out in front.
So, it's especially pleasing to see the man downplaying his role and pumping up the pit crew.
A star for the pit crew and one for Fernando as well.

Alonso's entry/exit into the pits was actually slightly slower than Button, but the pit crew beat the Mclaren clowns by almost a second.

Alonso's was 3.2s and Jenson 4.2s. Fastest this year was Mercedes with Nico, 3.0s; from memory.

Alonso's pit crew deserve all the praise their man can pour on them well executed magnificent work by driver and pit crew!:clap
I believe Massa's crew weren’t quite so on it. Any idea of the length of his pit stop?:-??

Massa's stop was a subtle team order to make sure he did not come out ahead ;-)

He was trailing by 3 sec.. i doubt he would have been able to jump both button and Nando even if his pit stop was as fast as Nandos.

Get the rib Geg. :lol But seriously didn't they want him out in front of Button to get that Ferrari 1,2 :-??

Seriously though, Checked lap times and I'm not so sure that Massa had the pace. On fresh rubber Alonso was very quick. Massa pulled 2 tenths out on his in lap but even if they kept him out for another lap he would have been slower than Alonso based on his lap times. But at least we're getting better at fooling the hoi polloi :-)

Nice gesture from Alonso, more so because he really means it, this 1st place is thanks to the pit crew, he knows it and is more than happy to give them credit for it. Of course Alonso staying as close as possible behind Button also helped :-P.
Fantastic job Ferrari, absolutely fantastic and a great present for all those fans at Monza, hope TSN members that went there enjoyed it as much as we did from our homes.

I was proud to watch this race on foreign soil and the disappointment of the BBC when we took Button in the pits was the most laughably obvious bias i've seen for quite some time. Clearly it's not all about the racing is it (as if we didn't know ;-)). Very very sweet :-D
