I can't understand why we don't have it already... You can watch pretty much any other sport in HD but not F1. You'd think that, seeing as Bernie controls the TV rights, he would have been all over HD like a cheap suit a long time ago... Especially if you consider the size of the audience around the world

Errr why?
coz I have seen people prefer to watch races at the comfy of their homes rather than attend the race..

And why would HD change that?
Has any other sport found a decline in spectator attendance since being broadcast in HD?

No way, maybe if they broadcast the race in 3-D it would make any difference. :-)
(I heard they showed a few 2010 Football World Cup matches in 3-D for the new TV sets but I don't know how it looked like)
Seriously, HD is great but I don't think it will change attendance.

It's true, people won't stop going to races if not merely because of the atmosphere. However, it is also true that races are not the greatest spectator sport, you watch the track TV most the time for the action that matters.
An F1 race is special because the sight and sound of the cars is just magical and jaw dropping. Living in the US I've been fortunate enough to see it once.

There is only one race in Australia so are you saying fans with the means off attending that one and only race would rather stay at home because of HD? :roll They have been broadcasting premiership football in HD for quite some time now and most of the games are always a sell-out. Same goes for NASCAR, no decline in attendance since HD

think that they also have had English Premiership games in 3D. (I think, as dont follow footy no idea what game(s) they had showing)

Yep, I've been to over 15 races in my life, all of them in Montreal and am impressed every time I go.... nothing will ever change the experience of being there listening to those cars go by.... wouldn't trade that experiece for a HD feed ever....

Me, too. It was magical. The cars are so small

Know exactly what you mean Tony- Spa is like my second home and NOTHING would prevent me going there! (Always huge rush to get home on the Monday in time for the rerun of the race though!):-D

haha, for me it's a little closer, less than 10 kms away, but it's still a 2 hour bus ride (you can't make it there by car unless you camp there a week before lol)....
Totally agreed :thumb
