I know these are not official pictures, but still wow!!! Can not wait too see the real pictures of her.


The whole world is waiting with bated breath to catch the first glimpse of the new Ferrari hyper car, the replacement for the legendary Enzo, codenamed F70. These rather brilliant pictures you see here is what an Australian artist thinks the car might look like. We can’t say how accurate they are because no one has yet seen the car, and the available spyshots are basically useless because of the heavy camo on test mules.

Regardless of the accuracy, these renderings are top level work, both in terms of technical skills that go into such things and also design details. Maybe Ferrari designers – well, Pininfarina’s – can learn a thing or two by looking at these images. The thing is, real designers have to take into account a million factors to satisfy different criteria for a production car, while an artist drawing a car for fun, doesn’t.

As for the technicalities, the F70 is said to be a hybrid super car – or as Ferrari refers to it HY-KERS – with something like 1000 horsepower output. Fantastic!

what i like is that ferrari use groundbreaking technology. if you compare such a concept to bugatti, koenigsegg, or us-cars like ssc, they are simply unprogressive and focusing on tospeed, often with very big engines and a lot of turbochargers. I really hope it doesn't look like anything from these pics because they are both horrible. One is a riced out 458 and the other looks like something Homer would design. It has to be unique, elegant yet stricking with clean lines.

well, i never liked the enzo it for sure was not elegant, i mention it, because you said the car has to be elegant and the enzo somehow looked quite jagged. with that said i prefer the design of the F70 above all the way. the car has to look way more aggressive than cars like the f12 berlinetta with its long front and hopefully won´t have cleft lines like the enzo. i am ferrari fan, but never liked the enzo. i would prefer the lamborghini aventador if i could choose between both and this means something for a ferrari fan, so i hope the new one will differ a lot. by the way i know a lot of ferrari fans who never liked enzo in terms of looks.
i liked cars like the F40 and if we are talking about clean lines a car like the mythos is really clean and timeless. so i hope the F70 will be somehow inbetween both.

now i am surprised, so thank you a lot! to be honest i already expected that i will be stoned here for mentioning the aventador and saying that i never really liked the enzo. i also guess the F70 will be much better looking.

If this is what the F70 has to compete with, then if I was LdM, I wouldn't be too worried. It is powerful, and I think the front looks okay, but this is one of the ugliest Hyper cars I have seen.

the F12 could take this, if the quoted top speeds etc are correct, but I think it will be a beast in the corners.

I keep reading comparison stories of the 458 v 12c and still after the tweaks the 12c has had the 458 is still the favored car for out and out passionate driving. Journalists still say it has more involvement and a lot of soul.

BTW I was at the Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone on Sunday, the F1 cars of which there were approx 8 from different eras were awesome, Marc Gene performed a start display and doughnuts. There were plenty of 458s, and I got to see two of my all time favorites in the flesh - the Dino and 288 GTO. Would have loved to have see a 250 GTO.

The McLaren will really perform I'm sure but the nomenclature that would more
accurately reflect it's looks is PU not P1;) It's a steaming hodge-podge mound of
comic book cliche styling! Another hypercar that will only look passably okay in black.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But yea, tbh I would be pretty disappointed if after all these years of waiting, they would come out with something like that. :-?? It does look quite ugly indeed. But then again, it looks better than some prototype pictures I've seen.
Relax guys, this article was posted on 4th July :lol So how could they possibly know what it will look like?! I'm sure it's just another amateur rendering and it certainly won't look anything like that. :-)

The real thing will be revealed some time next year. Nobody seems to know when exactly. First it was rumoured that it would be revealed at the Detroit Autoshow in January, but now Ferrari has changed their minds. I think the most likely place would still be the Geneva motor show in March.
We'll see...

Ferrari F70 to Debut at 2013 Detroit Auto Show.

Select potential customers will see the successor to the Enzo model early next year, but the F70 will be officially unveiled in January at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.


At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Ferrari offered a glimpse of what to expect from its Enzo successor through a carbon fiber monocoque. It is being reported that the exotic will pack around 900 hp from its 6.3-liter V12 engine and will achieve better fuel economy thanks to a KERS hybrid system. Despite that better fuel economy, the hybrid system will make the car significantly heavier, or at least it would were it not for other measures like building the body shell from carbon fiber.

In fact, the chassis should be about 20 percent lighter than the original Enzo despite a 27 percent increase in torsional rigidity and a 22 percent gain in beam stiffness.

Information about the much-anticipated car has been trickling out sporadically, but this is the first news about a public debut.

Yes indeed! I saw a test with the 458 Italia against the Mclaren on Fifth Gear. Eventhough Fifth Gear is a British program they had to admit that the Ferrari was way way better than the Mclaren. I liked that test very much because I know it hurts British people a lot to admit that they were beaten by Italians :lol

Well see. The P1 is an impressive machine, but Ferrari started making cars the year Ron was born. So they should know their way around this kind of thing, and the new Enzo will have it beat at least in the way that V12 > V8 Turbo.

Both cars will be fine to whoever buys them , but we all know which one will win the bedroom wallpaper war ;-)

Mclaren are a great company, and i am sure that mclaren automotive will build some good cars. The problem for them though, is that when it comes to engines, ferrari are the undisputed masters. Theres nothing more addictive on this planet than a ferrari v8 or v12 there at the disposal of your right foot :-D

British have made great little sports cars when it comes to dream machines their built in a garage lockup mentalith lets them down. The Mclaren F1 was their best attempt but the most talked about part was the German engines. Homemade kit cars and cheap sports cars are where the British are good. Nothing to worry from Mclaren they are not on the radar.

The Mclaren P1 doesn't look the type of car you'd want to be seen getting out of...it is simply (in my view) hideous. Plus it sounds like a stock R35 GTR which is pretty drowning.

Actually, to that 1092Kg you must add the driver, so that makes about 1200 for a large driver. If you only count the V12, you get about 666 HP/ton (evil :-)). If, however, you also count the electric motor, you get close to 800 HP/ton.

Either way, that's quite something considering how lightweight it is.

EDIT: But even so, the trademark of the Ferrari is always how it drives, and I reckon the LaFerrari is top notch. Certainly much better than the McPrius P1 (LOL, now I know what the P stands for).

EDIT: They tested the McPrius on Top Gear America and pitted against a stock car (those awful NASCAR-mobiles) and the driver on that throught the trunk of the McPrius opened when that huge spoiler (if you can call it that) opened. Ridiculous.

you got that wrong,only the carbon tub is 20% lighter than the one on the enzo.they gave out a 1250 kg dry weight(without oil,lubrication and other fluids)so kerb weight around 1300 kg.Very impressive for a hybrid car.(the hybrid system weighs in at 140 kg)

Well I on the other don't like the blue Ferraris too much, although Ferraris always look amazing in just about any color and I do like the blue color as well, just not as much as red, black, yellow, white or silver.

But in all honesty if I was buying myself a Ferrari then I wouldn't even consider buying it in any other color than red. Red is just a natural color for Ferrari, it's basically the same thing as for example grass is green, it just fits perfectly in every way. And besides, red is the color of passion and one of the main synonyms for Ferrari is also passion, so a red Ferrari for me please! :xmasbiggrin:

The head of Ferrari’s newly-established Sporting Activity Department, Antonello Coletta, has confirmed that a track-only XX version of the LaFerrari supercar is already being developed. The XX designation is used by Ferrari for its experimental vehicles, which form the basis of the automaker’s track-based research and development program. Previous examples have included the Enzo-based FXX and FXX Evolution as well as the 599-based 599XX and 599XX Evolution.

“Now we are working on the new hypercar for the circuit, the LaFerrari XX,” Coletta told Drive. "I hope that the new car will arrive on the circuit in January or February of next year.”

Coletta also said that rather than extracting more performance from the standard LaFerrari’s hybrid drivetrain, which is already producing upwards of 950 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque, engineers will be focusing on the handling of the car. He explained that the LaFerrari was tuned for the road and that a track-only car like the LaFerrari XX requires completely different settings.

Look for the LaFerrari XX to benefit from some weight-saving measures, improved aerodynamics (with a focus on downforce), slick tires, new suspension, and revised electronic stability and traction systems.

While the LaFerrari is being produced in a limited run of 499 cars, all of which have been sold, the LaFerrari XX will likely add a couple of dozen units to that tally. These won’t be drivable on the street, however. The XX cars are typically kept and maintained by Ferrari, with owners flying in to various race tracks around the world to drive the cars on the track and provide feedback to engineers. The program is designed for Ferrari’s most loyal customers, although it’s not unusual to find XX cars for sale on the used car market.

During the same interview with Drive, Coletta also confirmed that Ferrari was considering a return to top-level racing at Le Mans, something company president Luca di Montezemolo has previously hinted at. But he also stated that Ferrari is unlikely to make the move unless a budget cap is introduced in Formula One where most of its motorsport resources are devoted.

Ferrari’s LaFerrari XX project has barely commenced, but it appears the Italian car maker is already charging toward setting a new Nurburgring lap record for track-only vehicles.

Word has it the Maranello stable has already managed to run the famous course in 6:35, with an official announcement in the coming months. If the rumor proves to be true, the LaFerrari XX will become the fastest production-based, track-exclusive car around the Ring, surpassing the Pagani Zonda R and its 6:47.50 lap.

Although the LaFerrari XX won’t be able to challenge the production car record, due to its track-only purpose, the track-only supercar will also be faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder, which clocked a 6:57 lap last September. The company has yet to announce a Nurburgring lap for the road-legal LaFerrari.

Additionally, the new racer will smash the records set by the Ferrari 599XX and the 312T, the Prancing Horse’s only race cars to have lapped the track in less than seven minutes. The former achievement was record in 2010, while the latter dates back to the 1975 Formula One season.

Spotted for the very first time on the Nurburgring earlier this month , the upcoming LaFerrari XX is still a mystery, with powertrain and aerodynamic details currently unavailable.

However, the track-only supercar is expected to gain extra circuit skills via a new suspension setup, improved downforce, and an upgraded exhaust system. Additionally, Ferrari is likely to ditch some of the vehicle’s interior appointments for a race-spec cabin.

The black Laferrari that lapped the Nurburgring last week wasn't a track-only car. It was driven to and from the circuit on normal roads. It also didn't have slick tyres on as was rumoured elsewhere. With the exception of the drivers door window, I don't see anything different to a regular LaFerrari. Perhaps it's Ferrari's own personal play thing?

Ferrari is hard at work developing its LaFerrari XX experimental car for launch in early 2015, and word on the street is the car has ditched the regular model’s V-12 engine for a new V-6 whose design is based on the engine powering the Prancing Horse’s latest Formula One car.

The information was first reported by Top Gear, which reports that the LaFerrari XX’s new V-6 shares a design with the turbocharged 1.6-liter V-6 fitted to Ferrari’s F14 T F1 car. A hybrid system is also thought to be present, though it’s not clear if this is based on the unit fitted to the regular LaFerrari or a more extreme one like the Energy Recovery System used in F1.

A mysterious LaFerrari-like car was spotted testing at Ferrari’s Fiorano test track earlier this year and was said to sound like it was running a V-6. At the time the car was thought to either be testing Ferrari’s new F1 engine or perhaps an engine for a potential Le Mans prototype, but Top Gear is reporting that the engine being tested is the one now fitted to the LaFerrari XX.

If the claims are accurate, it could be that Ferrari is using the LaFerrari XX to develop the engine destined for the 458 replacement, which is expected to be the automaker’s next turbocharged road car and at one point was rumored to be downsizing to a V-6. After all, the purpose of the XX cars is to test new technologies destined for both Ferrari’s future race cars as well as its road cars.

At the launch of the LaFerrari at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari said it would build just 499 examples of the flagship supercar. But on top of this the automaker will build a handful of track-only ‘experimental’ cars as part of the XX program, and we may also see an additional run of LaFerrari Spiders—yes, convertible LaFerraris. The information first appeared in a report from Automobile Magazine.

According to the report, there will be 30 of the XX cars, which will develop 1,050 horsepower in total system output, or about 100 hp more than the LaFerrari road car. This should give them the edge over their McLaren rival, the P1 GTR, which has been confirmed to develop 986 hp. We do know that an XX version of the LaFerrari is coming, as a senior Ferrari exec has confirmed the car for an early 2015 debut and a prototype has already been seen lapping the Nürburgring.

Although yet to be confirmed by Ferrari, the LaFerrari Spider is said to be destined for a production run of just 50 cars. You may recall the Italian automaker did something similar with its previous 599, launching a limited run of 80 convertible versions dubbed the SA Aperta. If the report is accurate, the LaFerrari Spider will be double the price of the LaFerrari coupe, and only Ferrari’s most loyal customers will be offered a build slot.
