In Abu Dabi, Fernando Alonso was - again - asked the question about his relationship with Ferrari.
Fernando's answer was - again - very clear: "The relationship with Ferrari is fantastic. It was perfect, it is perfect and it will stay perfect. But I'm sure that in Austin I will have to answer the same question - again...."

Fernando Alonso tired of questions about relationship with Ferrari
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo's public criticism of his lead driver in the summer shone an intense spotlight on intra-team politics at Maranello, during which McLaren made it clear that it would welcome Alonso should he leave the Italian squad.
But when quizzed ahead of this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix about how his relationship with Ferrari had changed, Alonso made it clear that he was tired of answering such questions.
"It is fantastic," he said. "Every weekend I repeat the same thing.
"So I guess in Austin on Thursday the first question will be how is my relationship with the team...
"It was perfect, it is perfect and it will be perfect."
Alonso has driven for Ferrari since 2010, but has yet to win a championship with the team amid Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull's domination.
In both 2010 and '12, Alonso managed to establish points leads only to be overhauled by Vettel.
Although he remained in mathematical contention for this year's crown until last weekend's Indian GP, Alonso has admitted that his focus has had to be on hanging on to second place in the standings for some time.
"I think we need to be realistic and know we didn't have the chance this year to fight for the championship," he said.
"At the beginning of the year we were a bit closer but then not quick enough and now we're fighting for other targets, which is second in the constructors' championship and in the drivers'.
"That was not the main priority when he started the season, but it's a good target to achieve and a good thing to help the team."

One thing you need to know about Alonso: as long as he is with Ferrari we have NEVER heard him telling a lie or being dishonest. He always tells it like it is.
In this case, if the relationship really was bad he would have said nothing and everyone here would have known the meaning of that.

Yes, after a dominant 2014 season from Kimi Raikkonen in red with 15 race wins and 20 podiums he will be crowned the 2014 World Champion. Fernando Alonso as a solid second will help Ferrari to a WCC, a first during his time in Ferrari.
I'm sorry to derail but Kimi Raikkonen is just a very interesting personality and it's safe to say he is bigger than Formula 1.

Indeed , you are derailing - a lot. This is a Ferrariforum, in which BOTH drivers of Ferrari are supported. And you may think Kimi is bigger than F1, fact is that NO driver will ever be bigger than Ferrari.

Completely agree that Kimi is an interesting personality; but, that's only an opinion and needn't be shared by others!!
Having said that, NO way is Kimi bigger than F1!! NO way is Kimi bigger than Ferrari!!
In fact, I dare say that NO driver is bigger than either!!

Judging by today's performance in Abu Dhabi, it wouldn't be surprising if Fernando did a straight swap with Kimi and went to Lotus, no payment maybe but at least the car would enable him to get somewhere near winning. Then can we please re-instate Felipe to join Kimi. :furious

i don't think Felipe is the first option should either Fernando or Kimi decide not to drive for Ferrari next year. i remember quite clearly there was a certain german in line that was dropped from the list just slightly before Kimi was announced and when it was already said Felipe is going

You're probably right, Katu, but that doesn't stop us being disappointed that he has been asked to step aside. The Hulk still really has a lot to prove. The Sauber at present seems a better and far easier to drive car than the F138, and is quicker down the straights. And you could see what a handful the F138 has been for the last few races, yet Felipe has coped pretty well.

Alonso has very right to be off. If he has performed as incompetently as the team has since 2011 he would have been sacked, so the team has to be held to the same standards and they have failed him miserably. The only way to repay him is to deliver redbull performance for the rest of his career at Ferrari, and that will not happen. Sad that he went to Ferrari with great dreams and this is the result, driving these donkeys.

Yes Ferrari failed him miserably by making him clear number one and giving him everything at their disposal. Went to Ferrari with 'great dreams'? Yeah, only because things didn't work out for him at McLaren.
It's obvious that Ferrari haven't done good enough the past few years but the sense of entitlement some folks have when it comes to what Fernando is 'owed' is a joke.

There is really no point in trying to single out who's to blame. They work together as a team, the drivers are part of the team whether you like it or not.
What matters now is that we've lost the title, time to move on. No need to say who's fault is who's, its not going to change anything.
Everyone wants to make the fastest car, just because we demand it doesn't mean Ferrari can will it out of nothing. What if Ferrari is winning, does that make every other team a failure? No. Everyone has done what they can, the team who does the best job wins that year. Doesn't make Ferrari a failure.

Right. Fernando is a Ferrari driver because he wants to, nobody forced him or promised him anything except that they would try to build the best car. He is part of the team and together they try to win. They owe him nothing.
