Maranello, 14 December – Good wishes, reflections and good resolutions. As Christmas draws near, all families come together to exchange good wishes, look back at what’s happened and think about plans for the following year and the big Scuderia Family is no exception to this rule.
The traditional Christmas lunch took place today, bringing together within the logistics pavilion, all the Scuderia employees, the drivers and representatives of the team’s technical and commercial partners. On stage were the two principal players of the racing year, the F138, which for the nineteenth time in twenty years made it to a podium finish in the Constructors’ Championship and the 458 GTE, which brought home a trio of titles – Drivers’, Teams’ and Constructors’ – in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The key moment, as always at this event, was the speech from president Luca di Montezemolo. “As ever, I am very happy to have everyone gathered here today, because within this building are many of the Ferrari men and women and I will never tire of saying how you are the true asset of our wonderful company. I want to thank all of you for the effort you have put in, even if there is disappointment at not having had the sort of season we would have wished for, especially after a positive start, that we all hoped would continue. In part, that was definitely down to some external factors, but it was mainly down to us not bringing the necessary updates to the track, a mistake we must not repeat. Domenicali deserves the credit for having given it his all and it’s thanks to his work and that of his colleagues that we are making progress with the tools and technology which will help us return to winning ways. I for one am definitely sick of coming second: we have the ability, the competence and the spirit to return to the top step of the podium. Each one of you must work with great determination and take pole position in your own jobs: that’s what’s I’m asking of all of you.”
In looking back at the year that’s coming to an end, Montezemolo mentioned the important achievements in the GT Championships. “Once again this year, we have had great results in the world of GT racing. I wish to congratulate Amato Ferrari and his AF Corse team: Ferrari winning a championship with a Ferrari is a nice happenstance. I think everyone at Corse Cliente, the drivers and especially the new World Champion, Gimmi Bruni.
Continued development in the GT world and the technology transfer to road cars has always been an integral part of our activity. We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home. Maybe we should give it some serious consideration…
Finally, Montezemolo had words of thanks for the two race drivers. “Over the past few years, Fernando has given his all and he deserves to have a competitive car with which he can win a World Championship with the Reds. I can understand his occasional moments of frustration, which we all share, but I am sure he is well aware what Ferrari represents and because of that, he will be even keener to give it his best shot.” There was also a special and emotional word for Felipe Massa. “It will do Felipe good to get out from Ferrari,” said Montezemolo. “He will be back with new motivation, like footballers who change teams for a while before returning to their own. The doors of this company will always be open to a man and a driver of his quality. His name is linked to Ferrari I want to thank him for his contribution over the eight years he spent with us.”
The speech was interrupted by a long round of applause, ending with a standing ovation. There was much applause for Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa too. Montezemolo presented the Brazilian with an engine from the F2008, while Felipe wanted Montezemolo to have the special helmet dedicated to Ferrari, which he wore in the last Brazilian Grand Prix.
I have bolded the bits I really, REALLY hope have some connection to one another ;-)

Maranello, 14 December – It was a very special Christmas lunch for Felipe Massa, as he bid farewell to the Scuderia with which he has shared over ten years of his racing and personal life, having enjoyed a close link to this team and so many of its people over the years. “We started together so many years ago and I want to thank all of you, mechanics, engineers, everyone who works at the track and behind the scenes in Maranello,” said an emotional Felipe. “Each one of you has always given me so much support, especially in the most difficult moments and I will never forget what Ferrari did for me when I had my accident in 2009. It’s in these circumstances that one understands what it means to be really loved and the atmosphere at Ferrari and the unique feeling of being part of the family is something I will miss a lot.”
There was also a special thanks for the Team Principal, Stefano Domenicali: “I look on you as my big brother,” continued Felipe. “I thank you for everything you have done for me and for the opportunities you and the President have given me.” Finally Felipe had an affectionate word for his friend and team-mate Fernando Alonso, joking about the incident in the 2010 German Grand Prix. “Thanks also to you Fer, we will meet again on track and this time I will try not to let you through.”
Felipe will now head home to Brazil to join his family before embarking on his new adventure in Formula 1. He will be taking with him a gift from President Montezemolo, namely the engine from the F2008 that took him within touching distance of the world title in 2008.

Fantastic job by AF Corse team once again! Big applause to them and of course to Ferrari for creating such a great successful car as the 458 Italia. :clap
It's always been almost as important to win in GT classes for Ferrari as it is to win in Formula 1.
I also liked this part very much:
We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home. Maybe we should give it some serious consideration… ...Ferrari back in Le Mans with full factory team racing in LMP1 class... Wow, that would be simply amazing! Yes, please consider it very hard Luca.
And of course it's sad that it was the last day for Felipe with Ferrari, but like LdM said "The doors of this company will always be open to a man and a driver of his quality. His name is linked to Ferrari..." so he will always be a part of the Ferrari family and I'm sure he will be visiting his Ferrari family quite often in the future. :-)
Ciao Felipe! Forza Ferrari!!!

AF Corse had really great year, Gianmaria Bruni drove fantastic all year, but it was all Aston Martins way till about 2 hours to go in the final race, when both their #97 #99 cars ran in to engine trouble. They looked on for all WEC Titles. The balance of performance rules bought in this year favoured AMR, as last year we beat all teams with 1-2 less pitstops.
LMP1 programme,:xmasbiggrin: yes please. Be dream come true. Been waaaaaaay to long.
(now season over, i think time to wash my AF Corse team top, again grazie mille to Riccardo from AF Corse for sending me one )

Im sure he will return to us, to join the GT line-up. Or if we do decide to go LMP1 racing. Love to see that but very nervous about the idea. Just look at what happened to Aston Martins LMP1 adventure couple years ago, total failure. At Le-Mans think they took the start but late, then retired after handfull of laps. :-??

Well I'm sure that if Ferrari would go through an extensive preparation period for the LMP1 project then it surely won't be a failure. Ferrari has the means and the know-how to make a winning LMP1 car and be successful in Le Mans, no doubt about it. If Ferrari would thoroughly prepare for it for a couple of years and test their LMP1 car on Fiorano/Mugello every day then success is bound to come. The key is not to rush things.

Yes, you can say that again, Ferrari winning both F1 championships and Le Mans 24h in LMP1 class in the same year...that would be better than any sweetest dream I could ever have. Words can't even describe how amazingly perfect and wonderful that would be! And it's actually not an impossible dream at all. Ferrari can achieve anything they set their mind to.
And this "winning both F1 championships and Le Mans race in same year" feat has actually already been accomplished by Ferrari twice, in 1961 (1-2-3 win in Le Mans + both F1 titles) and in 1964 (1-2-3 win in Le Mans + both F1 titles)

Just imagine, the headlines after Le Mans 2017 :-P:
"After a long and hard race a dominant Ferrari crosses the line. The last stint the winning car was driven by Felipe Massa. His teammates Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen were cheering while the car roared by, Raikkonen even threw his icecream in the air. The podium saw two of the three champions taking their well deserved champagne shower, while the third carefully drank out his bottle."

A fantastic dream certainly, but I'd be a bit worried that by diluting the efforts into two championships, the focus might suffer. There are some very big guns who'd do anything to stop Ferrari regaining their rightful status, in both F1 and LMP. But I'd sure like to see them try!
And that instagram pic of Felipe with his F2008 engine confirms how much he will be missed by the team and the tifosi.

That's the problem, yes. In whatever racing class or event Ferrari participates, the opponents will immediately double their efforts to beat us, because winning against Ferrari is always a great honor and recognition for any team/car brand. It's like beating Muhammad Ali in the boxing world, winning against Roger Federer/Rafael Nadal in tennis world or beating Michael Jordan in basketball. Ferrari is always the benchmark of the automotive world and that's why everyone always tries extra hard to beat us, which in turn makes it more difficult for Ferrari to constantly stay on top. But I'm sure that if Ferrari really wants to win in the highest class of Le Mans 24h again, then we can definitely do it.
Forza Ferrari!!!

Why was this moved here?
- Kimi wasn't even in the christmasparty
- The main info is that he has a race engineer that he hasn't worked with before
- This thread hasn't anything to do with Kimi or his health, that apparently is OK
- Kimi has apparently started work at Maranello, or atleast started to get accustomed

Threads about Kimi have "special treatment" around here.
Seems to be that way... The thread about rumours that Kimi is starting early at Ferrari and that he gets judicial consultation from Ferrari was locked. Rumours said he was first told to keep racing and he did an Abu Dhabi, then the rumours said that Ferrari told him to stop and fix his back and start early at the factory. Next week he said that he will stop for the operation and was at a seat fitting in Maranello. Closed because of...whatever.
A thread about Alonso saying Ferrari going to miss Massa is open but a thread about the replacement driver, thats been contracted since September, starting his work at Ferrari moved here??!!
I think there would be a lot to speculate about. For instance his health, the workload he will take on and if this means his started work, why was he given Alonsos chassisenginer to be his race engineer as it is a big step up, Stella doesn't seem to be a consolidating engineer as rumoured but continues as Alonsos and so on.
For months all threads about Kimi have been locked almost instantly, because he isn't a driver yet eventhou his been under contract with Ferrari already, now he started work and still it seems its a no-no subject...

Well first of all there isn't a site called kimi.com and secondly i think it was justified to ask why a thread is moved to one that hasn't got anything to do with it.
I mostly enjoy TSN, the different topics are interesting to me and generaly I think that this is well run and moderated but that doesn't mean that I would agree with everything here. It has probably more to do with streamlining the gossip and small titbits that are floating around at the moment. (just my opinion as i am not a mod)
It you are wrongly referred to another site, because of your opinion, just ignore it. You might have misspoke, been judged to have mend it differently or your comments adjudged to be disrespectful. And someone's wife might not have been loving in the right way, so you never know on a forum that have so many people all over the world.
Funny how so many like minded people can still find so much to disagree on unnecessarily. But i have a feeling that when we start winning next year, the forum will get much happier and less confrontational.
And we are still saying goodbye to Massa and that carries it's own sadness in a way that has not been worked through yet.

Completely agree with that. I'm going to miss Massa just as much as every other Tifosi and there's no doubt that he's probably one of the greatest and nicest person ever to be in F1 and his big contributions and loyalty to Ferrari are unquestionable, but quite frankly there was a time for a change, although Massa fans would of course disagree with that. But in Formula 1 teams simply have to be in a state of constant evolution, moving forward, in order to be successful, not standing still and keeping the status quo year after year. So overall I think it was for the best. Massa was with us for 8 years, that's more than most drivers can even dream. And if Ferrari chose Kimi as their new driver then I'm gonna support him just as much as I supported Massa or as I would support any other Ferrari driver. There's no point in shunning Kimi just because we miss Massa. Felipe will always have a very special place in Ferrari's history and in our hearts, but now it's time to move on and hope that Fernando/Kimi partnership will bring Ferrari lots of success and glory. Kimi is not the enemy anymore, he's a Ferrari driver now and therefore he should get just as much support as any other Ferrari driver.

Well put. Im a Ferrari fan 1st and driver fan after that...Kimi IS a Ferrari driver, Kimi IS a Ferrari driving WDC..so whats all the hubbub?
Massa is gone, he now drives for the enemy..I may add that he is now a millionare, had many great years as a Ferrari driver, 08 WDC to many, and will
always be remembered in history as a great Ferrari driver, no matter who else he drives for. Sheesh, thats quite the resume. He got to do what so many
other drivers can only dream about. But I dont want to see a Williams beat us next year and wouldve preferred he take a role within Ferrari, or even joined Fisi
and Kobi in the fantastic WEC 458 squad. A lot of his fans here are upset, and thats understandable, Im not. Felipe is doing what is best for Felipe.
I like the pic, its Christmas, Kimi is a Ferrari driver, so is Alonso. What a great lineup. Wish I couldve been at the Ferrari Christmas.:xmaswink::xmasbiggrin::xmasc ool:

Well first of all there isn't a site called kimi.com and secondly i think it was justified to ask why a thread is moved to one that hasn't got anything to do with it.
I mostly enjoy TSN, the different topics are interesting to me and generaly I think that this is well run and moderated but that doesn't mean that I would agree with everything here. If I disagree with something and I think it's justifiable to question a decision I hope I am free to do that without being refered to another forum.
I don't know who moved it or why, but good on them as we are Anti-Kimi here :-D

Montezemolo’s overview
http://i42.tinypic.com/a41jyc.jpg
Maranello, 20 December –Some traditions never go out of fashion. The Christmas dinner which President Luca di Montezemolo hosts for the Italian media who regularly cover Formula 1 is an essential part of the end of year, especially as it features all that is best in terms of traditional Italian cuisine. At the table set around an F138 at the Fiorano circuit, Montezemolo gave his usual assessment of the state of motor sport as a whole.
“It’s obvious I’m not happy with the way things went,” said the President. “However, it’s also true that we are the only team in the world for whom it’s seen as a tragedy to come second, which seems something of an exaggeration to me. Clearly, we now need to win and we’ve had enough of finishing second. However, it was a great season for us in GT racing, where we won all over the world. These wins are also very important on a commercial level, because these series put us even closer to our customers. It was nice to beat marques like Porsche and Aston Martin, despite the fact we were at a disadvantage because of the regulations. On the subject of this class of racing, I would repeat that, even if it is a fascinating challenge, the Le Mans 24 Hours is not an immediate objective for us: maybe we can talk about it again in three or four years.”
2013 was also a year of change on the driver front, with Felipe Massa leaving at the end of the season to make way for the return of Kimi Raikkonen. “Felipe was a real Ferrari man and together, we went through some marvellous times,” said Montezemolo. “I think we took the right decision, both for him and for us. Too late? I don’t know, but I’m sure that in his new team he will have new motivation and I hope he gets the satisfaction he deserves. I am pleased I followed Domenicali’s recommendations regarding Kimi: when I met him, I saw he was on great form and extremely motivated and I was pleased to see how warmly he was received both inside and outside the team. I think the pairing we have, along with that at Mercedes, is the strongest in the 2014 championship.”
The constant factor in this is Fernando Alonso. “He is the strongest of all and there are no problems with him,” continued Montezemolo. “He was right to get mad, as we have to give him a competitive car, something we didn’t do in the second half of the season.”

Progress for the Scuderia
http://i42.tinypic.com/2qu4yzq.jpg
Maranello, 20 December –At the traditional pre-Christmas meeting with the Italian press, Luca di Montezemolo was his usual blunt self when it came to laying out the Scuderia’s goals for 2014, even suggesting to the journalists they all use the same headline: obliged to win.
In fact, as the President repeated, everything is in place to embark on a new cycle, starting with a very significant change to the regulations, which inevitably will balance out the hierarchy in the field.
“In recent years, Domenicali has done a great job to bring us back to the cutting edge,” said Montezemolo. “For example, we improved on the strategy front and I believe that again this year, we were the best, thanks to a much more scientific approach. We also improved in the area of simulation and in the simulator, partly thanks to the drivers who are practically full time on this, such as De la Rosa and Rigon. We have also improved our infrastructure, for example with the renovation of the wind tunnel: for a few weeks now it’s been operational again and we are no longer obliged to use the Toyota one in Germany.
In 2013 we were the best at carrying out the pit stops, as we were the previous year. Now we have a highly rated engineer, James Allison in the role of technical director: he knows a lot of the people already, having worked with them in Maranello during his first stint at Ferrari and he has a very good organizational brain. He and Pat Fry complement one another perfectly. To sum up, everything is there for us to win and to do well.”

Oh yea, I suppose you know better about Ferrari's pit stops than the President of Ferrari himself, uh-uh right. Fyi, Ferrari pit crew has been making the fastest pit stops in 2012 and 2013. Seems to me that the only one who's drunk here is you.

You supposed right! I do know more about Ferrari pit stops than you or the pres. of Ferrari himself. It was me who got them to improve over 2012. I just don't like to brag about it. A good part of 2012 was lost in the pits. I did what I could this year and the results were great. Thanks for the acknowlegement.

Oh! Oh! What a Gal! Your very welcome. I'm already working on moving Kimi over to be our spokesman and give all interviews, and get Massa back his seat. It was a big mistake. Also we will be going with Bridgestones this year and just painting the word Pirelli on the tires.
