On 1st February 2001, Fabrizio Giovanardi made his debut at the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car, as a Scuderia test driver. The driver from Sassuolo, Italy, was called in to replace Luca Badoer, who a few weeks earlier had a nasty accident in private testing at Barcelona.
Giovanardi had his run on the straight at Vairano, at the wheel of an F1-2000, for a series of aerodynamic tests, which extended into the following day. In July that same year, Fabrizio was back at Vairano for a further two days of aero testing, this time at the wheel of an F2001: it meant Fabrizio had the pleasure of driving two world championship winning cars!
