Hey guys, after reading this from wiki
"In February 2013, at the launch of F138 - in interview to the German Auto Motor und Sport Rory Byrne said that he is "working full steam" on Ferrari’s 2014 F1 car, in a role which will see Byrne return to the role as chief designer."
Why isn't there any news regarding him being associated directly with the new car. We see Pat Fry and James Allison at Jerez, but no sign of Rory.
I'm really confused who designed the f14T? Nicholas Tombazis? Pat Fry? Rory?
It's never mentioned in articles or on tv, the whole world knows Adrian Newey designs the Red Bull.

It is designed by Tombazis. Byrne is a consultant but nothing more as I understand.

I don't think Ferrari has confirmed his involvement from what I've read... I'm not sure if we looked at the same wiki page, but the one that I saw listed a citation needed next to Byrne's name, meaning that it was not verified...

He was apparently hired on the condition of just being a consultant and not be with the team full time.
A few reports suggested he had overseen the development of F14 T. He might be around at the odd race or maybe Bahrain but i expect him to watch most of the season from Phuket :-D

Byrne is not the chief designer but he is helping us and the team have confirmed this.
La Gazetta Sportiva says that Byrne, 69, was spotted at the F1 launch this year and told a German journalist his plans. Quizzed on this, the team has now confirmed the signing.
With Ferrari having split responsibility for F1 design into two groups, between Simone Resta, who is behind this year’s car and Fabio Montecchi, who will lead the 2014 project, Byrne will assist their boss Nicolas Tombazis to take the whole project in the right direction.

Ferrari said Byrne, who has been working on road car projects as a consultant, would provide "operational support" to the design team.
At the launch of this year's F1 car on 1 February, he told the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport that he was working "full steam ahead" on the 2014 car.
His presence does not change the normal Ferrari design structure and he has no official title.
Ferrari describe him as "an extra pair of hands and eyes, if you like".
Byrne is working as part of a team led by chief designer Nikolas Tombazis under technical director Pat Fry. The co-ordinator of the 2014 car under Tombazis is Italian Fabio Montecchi.

Like two of us have already said - he's a consultant.

The "Lead" Designn Engineer for the F14T race car is Deputy Chief Engineer, Fabio Montecchi. He is the Engineer in charge of this project.
Beyond this, the Group of Engineers that interact with Montecchi include the other Senior Engineers interasct regarding all aspect of the design and construction of the race car. Red Bull and Newey with their Group of Engineers design and build the race cars in the same manner. Newey is NOT the Do All Be All when it comes to Red Bulls race cars. Case in point is the Red Bull Failed Test of the past week. All F1 teams Design and build the race cars with a "Lead" Engineer and the Group of Engineers designing, fabricating and testing the parts. The "Lead" Engineer is the "Point Person" to establish the "Baseline" and the direction of the concept of the design. Plus the "Lead" Engineer gives the direction to the Engineering Group for the design direction for the development of the design or the changes in direction of the design to develop a new design.
