Hi All,
I recently 1/20 winners of the 'snap your passion' contest Ferrari was running and I won a guided tour around Maranello on a particular date in April. If I was to go I would be coming all the way from Sydney just for this, surely it wouldn't be just a normal tour would it?!

First of all, congratulations! You have to go there especially now you won the factory tour! I have been to Maranello in 2009 for the museum tour and to just look around for all the Ferrari buildings and I would do everything to see the factory from the inside! You will enjoy it! :-D

holy crap. That is very awesome to be just a 1/20 winner. Are any of the travel costs covered?
voiko

Nope none of the travel costs are included which is what's killing me! So I made a website for all my facebook friends and other people to donate because people know how much my life is Ferrari.. I can't save that amount of money that quickly to get there so I thought I would ask the world for a dollar and see what happens!

You should all check it out if nothing else but for a laugh!
So is the whole factory tour available to anyone or is it only for special events?? anyone know?

First of all Congratulations!!! You are what Scuderia Ferrari Club is all about!!!
Secondly, for a place to stay check out Planet Hotel, directly across the street from the plant and next door to the new GeS building and the Cavallino. Ferrari Store is down stairs of the hotel. Also, flying to Venice and driving may be cheaper for you than flying to Milan or Bologna. Venice tends to have cheaper flights.. If you need information about Maranello just send me a note.. BTW, Scuderia Ferrari Club is opening offices in Melbourne here shortly..
I will also pass around your link so that other members may be able to help you!!!

What a fantastic Gesture, Thank you. I will be one of your first customers to sign up if the club comes to Australia!
That's great information regarding the trip so thanks a lot, every penny counts with such short notice until the event. I will have a look at that route now and it would be fun for me as well! Have you stayed in Planet Hotel? I was tossing up between a couple of hotels there I imagine they are all relatively close to one another and the factory?

We have a club going in in Adelaide here very soon, Adam Vella is the President and should be officially up and running here this spring.. So we are the exact same membership as the one that you buy on the web for 40 Euros, just a local office to actually get together with your fellow club members and participate in Ferrari sponsored activities. Our members, myself and my family included, have stayed at Planet Hotel many times. My board member and the President of SFC Philadelphia (Mike Domanico) will be staying there this coming week. It's very easy access to everything and also big rooms, good air conditioning and great room rates.. Scuderia Ferrari Club of Denver is meeting at Sill-TerHar Maserati on Saturday, we are taking up a collection from our members and will send you what we collect... Let me know if we can help with anything else!

You need another $2,400 ... why don't you borrow it from friends or family or take out a personal loan?

I have asked for all my Xmas and bday presents from family and friends as part of these 'donations' lol
Good point, but here is my situation. A few weeks ago I got a loan and leant my best mate a few thousand dollars to buy his mrs an engagement ring so she didn't know (she looks after the finances) - then I won this trip .. So while I'm waiting for him to propose and keep it a secret I don't have access to funds! Hahaha
So yes I work full time but given that I have to be there in 4 weeks(ish) I don't have that kind of money sitting around so am doing everything possible to get there! Also flights from Sydney are about $2k and the longer I leave it the more expensive they get however I am In a Position now to buy my flight tomorrow! What I don't make i can fill in myself because I get paid in the next 2 weeks (monthly) and that will be the only pay I have before I get back from the tour .. I'm in a pickle however nothing is stopping me from getting there, trust me!

As Suzie said, there is a chance they are at the Montana Ristorante! It's a great restaurant anyway because they got a lot Ferrari memorabilia on the walls :-D

You lucky guy, I went a couple of years ago but didn't get the factory tour, Maranello just lives and breathes Ferrari, we stayed at Maranello Village, a Ferrari-themed motel-type place a bit out of town but saw some amazing Ferrari road cars coming and going, some of which were parked underneath. Ate at a restaurant in the square opposite Enzo's statue. Enjoy the experience and buon appetitio!:thumb

Il Cavallino is right across the street, it's great food, Ferrari people in there all the time. If you wander down the street to the right in front of the factory you will find the drake where Enzo used to eat. If you continue on to the main square in town you will find Made in Red which is a very cool place to hang out and Dolce Creama is across the plaza there which has the best Gelato in town.. My buddy Vincenzo Landolfi is there in the same Hotel this week, he works in Hospitality for the team.. His room faces the Cavallino. Anyway, he was taking photos in front of the new GeS building this morning with my boss Mauro Apicella and my friends Massimo and Maurizio Orelli. Enjoy mate!!! If you need anything, let me know!!

I've eaten at drake, il cavallino and ristorante Montana and seen lots if Ferrari people but no one famous.. I wonder if they are all caught up in the domenicalli hype! Will try the gelato today!! Cheers mate your ideas have been invaluable!
