Am at my desk this morning in Melbourne, can't afford to take today off to go to the practice but will be following with interest online. :furious

I've got a strange feeling we won't learn very much in practice before qualifying, there will be lots of testing new pieces and upgrades I imagine, and in FP3 tomorrow I think teams will be worried about something failing on the car and missing qualifying so maybe there won't be so many low fuel runs.

Anyway, like all of us here, I'm tired of all the guesswork, and just want the answers now ;-) Hope all the teams are reliable enough to do lots of running so we can enjoy the racing! :-) :-) :-)

If you want people to buy your product then be innovative and provide people something that would attract their attention, do not limit the basic need just to get some money out of it, this is ridiculous.

We're not talking about a commercial application here. F1 is not a product.

The online live timing is simply a supplement tool for fans to observe timing that are recorded on track. These timing are already there, we're not talking about content that needs to be develop like a video game. Hell there is nothing to develop for something that has been there for years.

If they want to charge for extra features, be my guest. But live timing has always been there, and it's not a product.

It doesn't work like that, true it is their work but how and what they do with it, this change is bad from any prospective. Not only it will give FIA an even worse image that they got already but it also frustrates the audience, thats bad advertising of the sport.

Imagine if FIA demands from customers to pay 10 bucks in order for you to hear the sounds from the cars on track, will you be fine with it just because its their "product " ?

Live Timing was free since it was brought up , the way they changed is simply ridiculous and no support or different point of view can change that.

It's a supplement tool to a sporting event. It's not a commercial product.

Revenue is generated from the sport itself through television rights and track hosting rights. FOM isn't in the business of making application software. That's the difference.

It's been free for a long time means that there's no cost to developing it now. A cost that, mind you, in the past has been paid for itself by the sport's revenue

i don't see how it's damaging their image by making an app and put premium options in it for people that want all the features. you still have your laptimes for free and if you want sector times then you pay for that. they are not a charity organisation they are a business driven company even if you may not like it. It is damaging because they are forced to take something that it was free in order to force people to get the same experience they used to get for ages.It pretty much shows that their app is failing so much that they had to get these from their free Live Timing in order to make it appealing for people to buy it, how is it hard see that it is damaging their image and the sport. They ruin the experience for many just because of their greed, thats a fact.

I already asked you, if FIA forces you to pay money in order you can hear sounds of the engines would say its ok since its their product ?
You have every right to pay for whatever you feel like but trying to justify this is simply wrong.

That doesn't mean they can't change how they do things in the future. It's up to the users tell them that this is not acceptable, if no one buys their premium version maybe they will rethink what they are doing, don't you think?

MRRabbit
14th March 2014, 03:46
It is damaging because they are forced to take something that it was free in order to force people to get the same experience they used to get for ages.It pretty much shows that their app is failing so much that they had to get these from their free Live Timing in order to make it appealing for people to buy it, how is it hard see that it is damaging their image and the sport. They ruin the experience for many just because of their greed, thats a fact.

I already asked you, if FIA forces you to pay money in order you can hear sounds of the engines would say its ok since its their product ?
You have every right to pay for whatever you feel like but trying to justify this is simply wrong.

no i would not pay extra to get car sounds, happy? If you think they would add that change u'r delusional tho.

besides, we get F1 and porn in 1 package, whats so bad about it right ?

MRRabbit, honestly, just take the basic understanding and apply some logic into this move and you can pretty much wrong since the idea was created, they are not stupid to wait people to tell them . They are doing this simply to get money due to their greed, they are not providing ADDITIONAL stuff to the Live Timing and then asking feedback, there is a huge difference in these two.

Doubt they will care about app sales, as the main thing here is still the racing, that's what FOM is all about.

The app is part of F1 merchandise, I don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with is them making live timing as part of that premium app. I won't mind if they make commentary exclusive, but live timing is an essential part of the race, not a merchandise

I'm at the track and one thing is for sure the cars are much looser when getting on the power coming out of the corners. Also as a side note I like the sound of the new engines because they all sound quite unique, but listening in to people's conversations f1 has definitely lost some of it's appeal to casual fans. Lots of comments being made about how quiet they are, even compared to the v8 super cars

Fernando Alonso had the honour of being the very first man out on track this season, proof that he wants to get stuck in! He also went off at Turn 1, but no damage was done.

If we go according to the tradition then we will see much more faster FP 2 times, no doubt. The FP 1 time especially at the beginning of the season is to run the final test runs while trying to get a core setup going and ready for FP2. In FP 2 we will have a better current indication but even then it could be false as teams will hide their "true" performance till Qualifying .

Not bad so far. If this is the qualifying order, we still stand a very good chance to win. Red Bull will be there too. But this is looking like a much better season opener for Ferrari :thumb
