The Haas team are close to confirming their entry for 2015 using Ferrari power.
Obviously that was before of Ferrari's power unit struggles.

That would be good for Ferrari of course...another team beeing evaluated by FIA is Forza Rossa, official Ferrari dealer in Romania so if they get green light we will at last have our own Toro Rosso ;)

Wouldn't that be too many teams? Caterham might pull the plug this year but what if they don't? That will mean potentially mean 2 extra teams.

A "full field" is considered to be 26 cars, been many years since we saw a grid at that number!

Also I thought somewhere I read that no more than 4 teams can be supplied by an engine manufacturer. Assuming that includes their works team, we could supply one more team, Mercedes one more because McLaren are switching to Honda & Honda could add another 3 teams if the demand was there.

Wouldn't it be logical for Forza Rossa to use Ferrari power as well, as they are a Ferrari dealer?

Haas team granted entry for 2015 season

A team owned by NASCAR's Gene Haas has been formally accepted to join the F1 grid for the 2015 season.

In December the FIA opened a tender for a 12th team and Haas quickly became one of the leading contenders to take on the position. Originally Bernie Ecclestone voiced doubts about the financial validity of Haas' bid but has recently changed his opinion on the proposed team.

The bid, which was formally submitted in February, was signed off at the FIA's April 11 meeting. Haas has revealed his relief and excitement at being accepted into the sport.

"Obviously, we're extremely pleased to have been granted a Formula One license by the FIA," Haas said. "It's an exciting time for me, Haas Automation and anyone who wanted to see an American team return to Formula 1.

"Now, the really hard work begins. It's a challenge we embrace as we work to put cars on the grid. I want to thank the FIA for this opportunity and the diligence everyone put forth to see our license application come to fruition."

Haas co-owns the Stewart-Haas outfit in NASCAR with Tony Stewart, which won the 2011 Sprint Cup championship. Haas' outfit will be the first American team in F1 since the 1970s. USF1 was granted entry for the 2010 season the last time the FIA opened their application process, but they failed to make the grid due to financial difficulties.

Bernie Ecclestone has also hinted there is at least one more team who could join the grid for next year.

Haas Formula is quoted as saying a decision to 2015 vs 2016 will come in "next four weeks" after finding a PU supplier.

They're still a few months away from their bldg. being completed! Seems like '16 would give them a reasonable amount of time seeing as they still need an engine & a complete car to put it in!!!!
