View Full Version : KIMI RAIKKONEN'S replacement?

Now
We know Kimi wants to retire after this contract runs out. And why not? The way he has been driving and the number of points he has amassed.. as opposed to Fernando Alonso, he'd rather retire. Silverstone mistake and subsequent crash due to driver error is somehow hinting at his disinterest+fading prowess as a driver.
If we replace him and when, should it be a young driver like Hulk or we look at someone like Jenson who we did want earlier.
I really think hiring Kimi and letting Felipe go was one of the many bad calls Stephano took. Here's hoping we learn our lessons and not waste too much time in snapping up a replacement.
What are your views?
PS: how much does Kimi get paid?

A young driver, if Fernando stays.
You really need to let go of your issues with Stefano--you are throwing a tantrum over milk that has been spilled, lapped up by a cat, and is now a solid form of matter sitting in kitty litter.
EDIT: "milk" = issue, not SD.

Until they get the cars right it doesn't matter who they sign.

That IMHO pretty much sums it up.

Get Jules in the number 2 car so he can learn from the greatest on the grid.

Pretty much this. Fernando already proved that the car can't go much faster, no matter who is driving it.

If Kimi retires next year, I think Ferrari should invest in a young driver, similar to what Red Bull is doing. While we still have Alonso to fight for the WDC, the 2nd seat should be used to groom a new talent.
Get Jules in the number 2 car so he can learn from the greatest on the grid.
Speaking of which, he will be testing for Ferrari in Silverstone on day 2. We may not be the fastest car, but I think this will be the first opportunity to see how he cope with the new turbo era in a faster car. I hope he will impress a few people in the team

Amen to that!
My vote is to get some youngster to learn from the MASTER JEDI Alonso!
Thanks OP for telling us why you hate Kimi, I really appreciate that.
And on the subject, I would rather have 2 experienced drivers like we have now, than a young one. Experienced drivers are more likely to bring us more points. You may say that look at Kimi, he's bad. Well our car is a dog, so no wonder he's struggling. Massa or some young dude would be struggling also. Alonso meanwhile is the best driver that I have ever seen hence why he's outperforming all his team mates.

Danil Kvyat. Get him before RBR does. He is better than Bianchi and migh be better than Hulk. I think

Replace the cars not the driver. Did Ferrari not learn anything from getting rid of Massa? A mistake for sure. We wound up with a replacement driver who's 68 points behind his teamate who also has a slooow car. I'm not blaming Kimi, it's the car!

Bianchi or Vettel. Not really seeing anything else. Would think RBR already got their nails in to Kvyat, though not really sure if he's actually good.

I prefer Ferrari to respect their contract with Kimi, however if they would replace him for next season, which I don't think they will, I would go for Bianchi who can learn from Alonso, similar to Schumacher-Massa in 2006. If they really want someone who can equal Alonso then there is only 1 driver who has shown the potential to do so. Good old Lewis may not be very popular among Ferrari fans but I wouldn't mind.

Why sign big names instead of making a young gun a superstar? It saves alot of money and in case of underperforming you can replace him cheaply and easilly.
My list is:
- Kvyat
- Hulkenberg
- Bianchi
- A new name from the lower series like Max Verstappen

Way too early to discuss Kimi's replacement in my opinion. If Ferrari gives him a competitive car he may even extend his contract as i hope Fernando will do as well.
And with regards to his accident, it is because he actually still wants to fight and race that he had an accident. Sure he could have returned to the track like a lilly livered wuss
and rejoined behind everybody, but that is not Kimi and i am very glad that he still has the fight of a F1 champion in him.
And if your post is in any way influenced by fart face Lauda's outburst then please stop listening to senile geriatrics ramblings. If Silverstone's 4x4 track wasn't part to the GP track then Kimi would not have lost the back of his car when he rejoined the track.
Reminds me of Vitaly Petrov's Evil Knevel stunt. Not the drivers fault if the race track was badly designed or layed out.

Hulkenberg; Botas.

If/when Kimi leaves for whatever reason and if by that time Alonso is still with us, then I'd personally like to see Bianchi getting a chance to show what he's got. My second choice would be Hulkenberg and third choice Ricciardo perhaps. It would be best though if we could just somehow clone Alonso LOL ;-)

That is just unsuccessful attempt for Kimi. Next year he'll be back as Terminator. Fernando is the best driver of all we can see in Formula-1 today, but he didn't win any GP. So let Kimi make himself decision: to stay or to retire.

I think if Kimi goes and Alonso stays we should get a young driver.
My choice would definitly be Bottas.
He is just fantastic and showed a lot by now, i think this guy got a big championship potential and if he keeps this pace i think a big team will get him sooner or later.
He is a new great finnish pilot.

It seems to me that there's no shortage of replacement options, so no need to worry on that front. But there's been no mention of Rosberg though. I would consider him.

Okay, maybe Kimi will really retire. So, the team can invite Lewis, Jenson, Nico etc. SF would never have a contract with any young pilot. It's impossible! Forget boys, we always need men! Unfortunately...
