"Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has agreed a $100million settlement to end his bribery case in Munich."

Ironic that he can pay to end the bribery case as well lol - seriously that is one messed up justice system.

He is said to pay 100million dollars that 99million of those will go to the country and 1million to charity, lol.
Atleast dont be that greedy and tell him to give 50million to charity and 50 million to the country.
Im sure those 99million will end up at some individuals pocket.

How can this man carry on fronting Formula one, he is simply a cheat and a liar. Also Bernie has to much influence in the sport, Charlie Whiting is clearly in Bernie's pocket along with many others as well, Bernie should do the decent thing and step down along with his friends, we need to see different people running the sport.

Rumor has it that "his advanced age" was a factor in this decision to have him pay the fine.

But yes, it does feel like this wily old fox got away with it very lightly, he is "not guilty" as a verdict will now never be given in this case, although it is clear he is as guilty as sin.

The only thing Bernie will not cheat is death. He cannot live forever.

Money can do almost everything. These millions is nothing compared with his fortune. This is just entertainment for him. Besides he can raise the TV broadcasting rights by just 0,000001% and he will get his money back.

Bernie is a slimy greedy man. The sport will be better off without the likes of him around, hell it may even be brought back to its grass roots of being actually based in Europe! Bring back imola, etc I hate these so called modern tracks. Ps he would still be über wealthy, if he kept tracks like Imola etc rather than chase money.

It's a provision in German law. I don't see how anyone can blame him for German law :-??

Well no surprise to see the wicked dwarf has got away with it again.lol
Seriously I take my hat off to this guy, how he has managed to be-fool so many people?
I love F1 and have been watching it religiously since the Mansell days & it is thanks to Bernie he has given me something exciting to watch other than the norm of 22 men running up & down a pitch chasing a lump of round leather.
IMO every sport is manipulated to a certain extent, it’s just that Bernie has taken F1 to a new level of ridicule.
Come on the ludicrous suggestion of sprinkler system to create artificial rain & Mario kart shortcuts should be enough to convince most sane people F1 shouldn’t be taken too seriously as the man running the show is nuts.
To speak up & say he was an idiot for paying the £60m fine was brilliant.
Can’t wait to hear what he has to say when his circus arrives in Spa & hopefully he will manipulate a Ferrari victory for all of us long suffering fans.
Rest assured I will be tuned into the Bernie show.

Bernie never loses. Ya' gotta love a guy who beats a bribery charge by bribing the court.

Good idea. Some Mario shortcuts and hidden tunnels, remotely controlled self-detonating engines, artificial weather and some tacks on the track would make F1 look more like a casino.

Wonder how long it'll be now before we see the headlines "Germany loses F1 race".

Might see him bumping up the fee for hosting the race to a huge amount so he can get the 100 million back.

Sounds like fun but don't jest too much, you never know what Bernie may do next. Sure he's brought F1 a great deal of money but he hasn't exactly done badly out of it himself. 60million to clear himself.......an insult to any normal F1 fan who struggles to afford a ticket to attend a race, even to watch on Sky is a questionable expense nowadays. Perhaps he should be locked up for his own good.

Bernie Ecclestone's legal woes may not be over after Munich-based bank BayernLB rejected his 25 million euro settlement offer.

Last week he avoided the possibility of a jail term in Germany when he paid $100 million for his bribery case to be dropped.

The case related to allegations that the Brit had bribed former banker Gerhard Gribkowsky to facilitate the sale of F1 to CVC in 2006.

The state prosecutor revealed that Ecclestone's advanced age, 83, as well as other circumstances supported the acceptance of a settlement.

However, his troubles may not be over.

On Friday, German bank BayernLB, who allege Ecclestone undervalued F1's worth in the sale of its shares to CVC, rejected his offer of a 25 million euro ($33 million) settlement.

The bank did not give a reason for rejecting the offer.

BayernLB have kept their options open and could launch civil proceedings against Ecclestone having threatened to do so earlier this year, claiming damages to the tune of $400 million.

To be fair, what Bernie is doing is something you would expect any commercial rights owner to do, that is to make money. The whole reason CVC and the other current and past share holders exist is to make money first and foremost. So when we complain that they do something that is about money only, well, that's exactly what they are here to do.

Therefore even when Bernie stops someday, it's not going to change anything. It will just be someone else making the call with money being the prime objective.

Very true. Who in F1 drivers , tech. crew, pit crew and the big shots, would show up for work if not for the money?
