Different setups. But have to say that I am suprised by the speed trap numbers.

Pretty sure that not much can be read into the speedtrap in FP1 and FP2 yet. Tomorrow would probably have been a clearer indication of true speed, but if it is wet the times will not reflect it.

Mercedes probably jave at least half a second on reserve, asu usual is the case of Red Bull, BUT half a

Constantly loosing 0.5 in S1 compared to Mercedes, and that stays for a whole lap

Always from italian tv Genè added mercedes are running with higher downforce because rain is predicted for both qualy and race but we can't do the same cause we are too slow.

monza is gonna be the WORST race for ferrari in decades...i betcha we're gonna get lapped TWICE in that race...

Fernando did say that these TWO races, spa and monza are really gonna hurt us and really expose the weakness of our power unit.

this is just sad, very, very sad....waht a crappy PU ferrari has built up this year

let's all hope that the appropriate measures are taken care of and the weakness of our PU will be resolved and come come that much stronger in 2015

As i suggested in another topic Ferrari (and all non mercedes teams) has to compensate the lack of HP and top speed reducing the aerodynamic level of the car. In one lap it's ok... but in the race condition it destroys the tires forcing the driver to reduce the speed in order to protect them.

This is what happen in every race in which you you need a good engin PLUS a good aero (Silverstone)..... Monza could be different.

I believe we are 3rd fastest after all. Mercedes>Williams>Ferrari. That will be the case for race day imho. We are looking good.

Red Baron, you are absolutely right. Power is the great differentiator. It allows a car to use more downforce while achieving the same or greater top speed, plus greater cornering speed and greater acceleration. Power used to be what differentiated Ferrari from the rest of the grid. Then the Scuderia decided that they were going to use aerodynamics to beat their competitors, in spite of never having lead the field in aero and having a history of poor wind tunnel correlation...brilliant.

If I'm correct Fernando's fastest lap had a poor S1, by which I mean it wasn't his personal best, not 100% sure however.. Seems like our S1 and S3 times weren't as bad as expected.. So we're running low downforce, Merc probably higher.. Williams is bad in S2, so that's why Fer was faster, however, probably we are higher on fuel.. If it rains it's not good for our pace, Merc will still be quickest, Williams will loose as well, but RBR will gain.. Tomorrow is definitly gonna rain I think. I'm at Spa and during midday there were some serious clouds but no rain, now it's raining.

So, try again.. Allan McNish fast becoming my favourite commentator. He's knowledgable, unbiased (so far) and his love of motor sport generally communicates.
