Marco Mattiacci says he is “100 times more motivated” to succeed as Ferrari team principal than when he started in the role in China.

With former team principal Stefano Domenicali resigning from the role after the Bahrain Grand Prix, Mattiacci was brought in during the build-up to the Chinese Grand Prix. With 100 days having passed since his appointment, Mattiacci was asked by the official Formula One website if he would still have taken the role if he knew what he knows now, to which he replied: “For sure.

“I am so much more motivated. I've always been 'parachuted in'. In my very brief career journey, overall every two to three years I've always been called in to what is called a 'difficult situation' in order to turn it around. So I am happy that the company is keeping me in that kind of responsibility.

“I am so excited. The more I receive criticism, the more my team receives criticism, that's like an energy recovery system - we get more motivation out of it! Every day I get more motivation so I am 100 times more motivated than when I started the job in China.”

And Mattiacci added that he feels the team is “starting from a very solid platform” as he looks to return Ferrari to winning ways.

“We have a very clear strategy and a very clear timeline. Like all serious managers you have to try to do the utmost to shorten this scenario. But Formula One is not soccer. It's not a case of changing one or two players and the coach and the next season you are winning.

“This is a very competitive environment with the most sophisticated engineering in the world and with great talents to contribute to it. We know that we have a lot of work to do, but we are starting from a very solid platform. I have found incredible assets in this company. We have the most talented couple of drivers, we have a tradition of over 60 years, and an impressive obsession to come back and win.”

I sincerely hope his words just don't fall down and we have found a genuine replacement for SD. However, I still feel its better to remain quiet and work in a direction that ails the team. The results will prove itself what action or steps you have taken and no need of any such interviews.

He was doing an interview for the F1 website. The whole point is to answer questions. Seriously, people are complaining because he is talking about the team???

Perhaps the next Ferrari Team Principal should be a mute, or be gagged.

Pfft!!

Too much talking.

Actually he just answered the question, but in a Ferrari way as always we know. History, Motivation, best people, to get back where we were and ...
It is Ferrari tradition or it is better to say Italian medias make Ferrari to.

His Job is to talk. He is the Team Principal. I guess Horner, and Dennis and Toto never talk...? People just want something to complain about. Pathetic.

Well at least he sounds positive and claims that there will be light at the end of a very long tunnel, he has a solid reputation for turning things around so maybe we should just let him get on with it. This season is finito for us, so let's enjoy the ride and watch Fernando and Kimi push the boundaries. Enough slagging off for one season, eh?
