Now its become clear after two days of running is that degradation levels are extremely low, largely because of the Russian track's incredibly smooth surface. Given that, and the fact that the pit lane speed limit was reduced to 60km/h on Saturday, thereby making the pit loss a lengthy 24 seconds, means you can expect a lot of one-stop strategies in the race.
Tyre suppliers Pirelli say that the ideal one-stop route is to start on the soft tyre (which all of the top ten qualifiers must do anyway), change to medium rubber on or around lap 34 and then run to the end. However, the opposite strategy could be just as quick: starting on the mediums and then changing to the softs around lap 18.

For more than one reason this is going to be a difficult race for Ferrari.
So, good luck, stay safe and do your best , as you always do.

Expecting a difficult race. Alonso & Raikkonen will be promoted one spot thanks to K-Mag's penalty. Will be interesting to see Bottas, he said he took too much out of his tyres in the first two sectors of his angry lap so he may have to pit early. Hamilton should win this comfortably, battle of third is the only thing worth watching

I think they start with Q2 tires, so Bottas won't be using that trashed set from Q3

Why's that?

This year the regulation was changed to prevent drivers from saving tires in Q3. So they make it that drivers have to race with Q2 set.

I am afraid no magic today can help us, except maybe getting one or two places at the start. But than again there are plenty of long powered straight where our drivers will be sitting ducks...

" On Friday we turn more with less petrol than the other. E 'a strategy that maybe outside can create expectations, but as a team we know that turn lighter . "

Our pit crew are very good. They hardly make any mistakes.

What we fail to be good at is car development going over how we fared over the last few years and to a lesser extent our launch designs. Not easy to fix. My concern is that Allison leaves before sorting out this whole mess. Remember Allison was headhunted by Honda and I strongly doubt he lacks appeal from the other teams. It is imperative that Ferrari retain Allison and I hope the contract has been structured to be long term.

next year is full of hopes, relaxed engine rules, can upgrade it and pull back some performance on Mercs, we have good chassis, just PU. We thought had good one, till we went winter testing then engine freeze came in before we could (and Renualt) resolve the issues.

Wehave to make a whole new engine. Merc has a great advantage. Our chasis is not on par with Merc or Bulls. And we are getting Vettel who is bad with current cars without planted rear.

COTA wont suit us because of long straights and tricky traction corners. We may have chance if we qualify in front of them. Brazil may be our best chance to finish in front of them, then they will rock in Abu Dhabi so I doubt we can regain 3rd place

Both drivers did the best they could, on this track this was all the car had to give. Kimi too long behind I think it was Perez, but on the other hand we saw a real "Kimimove".

Our engine isnt too small. Just lacks power, which is turbo related. Mercs isnt just "power" its how they deliver it to the rear wheels, they have had 2-3 years head start than everyone. We do have very good chassis/aero, its just ironically the engine is our weak part. The one thing we all be shouting for F1 to go back too. Well Marmorini said, after he was let go, that our engine is smaller then the other two, as our aero department wanted it this way, for them to have more space to play with aerodynamics, even when they knew it will lack power.

FIA president Jean Todt says he is deeply saddened by wild claims he snubbed Fernando Alonso during the pre-race build up to the Russian Grand Prix.

Videos being circulated on social media showed Todt not shaking hands with Alonso as he greeted all the drivers on the grid at Sochi.

The drivers had formed up in a line for the national anthem, before an emotional get-together to show their support for injured driver Jules Bianchi.

Aware of the presence of the video, FIA spokesman Matteo Bonciani said Todt was so upset at suggestions he had ignored Alonso - at a time when their mutual friend Bianchi was critically ill - that he wanted to clear up the situation immediately.

Speaking during a stopover on his return from Russia, Todt told AUTOSPORT: "When a guy is fighting for his life, it is so sad that people can suggest something like this.

"Before the race I had walked from the back of the grid and had already greeted a number of drivers.

"I had hugged Alonso shortly before they lined up, so there was no need to shake his hand.

"I have never been so close to Fernando as in this moment, as we think of our friend in hospital."
