It's mainly the PU. To compensate for the lack of power, we have to trim down the downforce at an extreme extent. Just look at Renault and the overall improvement they have made by designing a good PU. Now they can run with more wings.

Did you really expected Ferrari to be at their current positions 8 months ago? No I don't think you did.

Hate to say it, but in the modern world, Italians have no clue whatsoever. My son has a number of Italian lecturers (chemical engineering) and he says that, while they know their stuff, they couldn't organise a 'few bevvies' in a brewery.

Alfa is pretty much like their last year's car. An extremely slippery car on the straights. But this years Ferrari is completely different. This years car has inherently more downforce, so more drag. Which is why we have struggled so much here, and similar struggle is awaiting us at Monza.

My point is if 2019 PU is deemed illegal. They should have gone to 2018 PU for this season?

But it hasn't been deemed illegal. There is no words from the FIA about the 2019 engine being "illegal".

I think Ferrari can recover the lost power. They've made a huge step forward in 2018 without any "tricks", they can do it again. And they would've done it this year as well, if they were allowed to work on the PU and if they haven't had to shut down the factory for 2 months.

Hate to say it, but in the modern world, Italians have no clue whatsoever. My son has a number of Italian lecturers (chemical engineering) and he says that, while they know their stuff, they couldn't organise a 'few bevvies' in a brewery.

That's too harsh. Italians has nothing to do with that. And the random teachers of your son have nothing to do with top engineers aswell. The team was very competitive in 2017 and 2018. No idea what has gone wrong since then.

Because I see Ferrari 2019 Spec2 was powerful. That’s where the actual problem started from rivals.
So I think we can just go back & work on 2018 PU which was good & use those 2 tokens on that for next year. I see this as the only chance.

Using 2 tokens on the current PU doesn’t reap good benefits, we still be fighting with Pink Mercs at max.

And if you ask me, I think Ferrari should've fought harder last year. "Prove us that we are cheating or shut up"...that should've been their moto. But they just gave up too easily. Man...I'm really missing Sergio Marchionne. Ferrari lost heaps of political powers with SM's untimely death.

Actually they develop the car, you can se a lot on new details and TBH Alfa is beatiful car. Ferrari is real opposite, development rate is close to zero, they just sit and wait. You can see the results now. The car looks like a fridge and sadly it runs similarly.... The car lacks everything, even with slight power defficit you can make decent car, but SimpleFail1000 is not the case...

On the other hand I watch races without nerves or any expectation and I am not surprised in the end. :lol

Everyone that saw what happened at the pit-stop now understands.

Even the pit crew and pitwall don't seem able to function clearly and decisively as seen today with both drivers, the whole thing is a shambles. Charles and Seb deserve a medal for not telling Binotto where to park the SF1000, we may be tifosi but sometimes it just isn't worth the pain. In terms of absolute raw speed, nobody is up there with Leclerc. He had a few problems with tyre wear on some tracks last year, but this year he has already rectified those problems.
Our current struggles will make Leclerc a complete package like Max. He has already shown Alonso-level adaptability, now he needs to improve his wet weather driving a bit.

From what I've seen, Mugello is a high downforce track. Mugello is a combination of fast-medium speed and long-flowing high speed corners. And with variable engine modes ban, Ferrari should be a bit closer.

I hope there will be some new aero parts for this track, don't expect any engine upgrade.

He’s more mature than max, I would say. Initially looking at max he has the raw speed + uncontrollable too.
Now that he had time In his hands, he’s the next best. But for me Leclerc has good speed over max & adaptability too. Although there are couple of mistakes, I don’t see any repetitive mistakes.
Give him a better package, he will run the show.

I have never been as much as I am now in Maranello, to work with the team closely and understand what we can do better, trying to push everyone, to extract the best out of the team. It's the first time in my career where I have a long-term contract with the same team, where I stay in the team for two years in a row. It's new but very exciting and I couldn't hope for any better team than Ferrari to be that."

At least the kids got spirit! :-)
I really really hope his 5 years with Ferrari arent spent hoping the next years car will be better, like it has for 10 years now.

Regarding engines and in-season development bans. How is it a competitive sport if you're not allowed to continuously improve your offering?

Everyone has the same rules. So if they can, logically we should too.

why would you take joy in that?

Sorry but that's strange behaviour actively wanting Ferrari to fail. You can criticise Ferrari all you want (and we all are) but with that mentality thank god you don't have any influence back at maranello

Renault Ric did fastest lap on 43rd lap. Which is 23rd lap on his medium tyres.

Alonso is licking his lips! :-D

On a different note. Gasly is really impressive.

Yes. And it still surprises me how he under-performed when he was in RBR.

It's the FIA that cheated not us.

Then, all three races we won last year would've been won by Hammy if Charles didn't have the track position. If anything, Red Bull stole a win from us last year through Max' reckless driving in Austria. I know Max finished third in Singapore but it's a complete garbage take to suggest Hammy wouldn't have had him covered in clean air.

If it was Mercedes that got found to have been running more fuel allowed than the permitted 100 kg/hr we would all be outraged and calling them cheaters.

Agreed. Nico Rosberg was handed a 5 second penalty for the same move in Germany 2016. I don't know how some people can talk about the "Ferrari International Assistance" with all the injustice done to us last year (we lost at least 2 wins because of it, Austria and Canada).

Was anyone else impressed by Vettel's post-race comments? I watched his comments live and I thought they were very mature and pleasant.
