New rumor is that there will be some upgrades in Spain and bigger changes will come to Monaco.
They were silent on the PU before testing began, as well. I hope we will see some of the efficiency of bringing changes quicker that Luca talked about though. And a little showing of the fact we've now got Allison wouldn't hurt either!
Seems to be what other teams are also saying about their efforts. No one is really predicting any huge closing of the gap to the Mercs, a real testament to the advantage they've managed:-s
All in all, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ferrari distinguishing itself from the rest of the pack & closing to Mercs a bit more. Steady & modest gains would please me!
Well I certainly hope that none of this is true. We need big updates NOW not "later". If we don't bring significant amount of big updates to Barcelona and others will then we're definitely going to fall even further behind and that would really mean game over for us this season. So let's just wait and see what happens this weekend, before jumping to any conclusions.

Uh!! every media is praising about the developments of other teams except us. F14T is the worst car in the history of F1, lets us believe so (they want us to believe) & no one talks about podium finish in China... It is a fluke....

It is perhaps fortunate that Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen are paid their salary in dollars because it looks highly unlikely they will be receiving silverware anytime soon.

TJ13 has been informed that the rumoured updates that were scheduled for this weekend have been put back for a more substantial reworking of the various parts as more problems are being recognised through the development process.
WIth the championship becoming a private battle between the two Mercedes drivers, it has been decided that bigger steps will be required to close the gap and work continues apace on effectively an updated F14-T. The parts that should have been run at the Grand Prix will be evaluated in the test following the race and includes a shorter nose which will allow a better passage of air below the car and around the sidepods. The new design will also bring benefit to the rear wing.
Whilst praise has been given to the excellent work performed by the Shell scientists who have delivered lubricants and fuels that have improved both combustion and lowered the heat from the engine by reducing internal friction – the main underlying problem is linked to the size of the sidepods.
Malaysian Grand Prix, Sepang 27-30 March 2014In pre-season testing, observers remarked on how small the air intakes were on all Ferrari powered cars but as efficient as the original engine figures may have been, the reduced size of air intake is causing a significant loss of downforce. Ironically it is also the restricted airflow that is curbing the release of horse power because of the heat being produced in the electrical transfer which is limiting the car on the straights.
It is interesting that no-one considered that Sauber trialed slimmer sidepods in 203 in an attempt to improve aerodynamic efficiency, but were forced to make huge changes to the rear of their car during the season when it did not perform as expected. With exhaust blowing being effectively removed this solution is not available to the Ferrari squad.
Mercedes themselves have sidepods that tighten in at the rear but the package they have designed is a complete factory design with parts of the power unit built into the chassis itself.
Maranello have also been focusing on the optimisation of the electrical system in preparation for the summer months but other issues have been unearthed which has forced the engineers to rethink all possible solutions. The size of turbo-charger that Ferrari currently use is smaller than the unit Mercedes have employed and in turn this effects the potential of the MGU-H.
The B-spec car that Ferrari is working on reportedly contains ground-breaking designs which have been used in the aerospace industry and their focus is on a stronger material which will increase the rigidity of the chassis itself. The interweaving of the various layers of carbon fibre should move the chassis technology into a new era and is one of the reasons the F14-Tb will be introduced – however the existing problems with the current car indicates that their problems are complex indeed.

I like the all-black leading edge of the rear wing. Only aesthetics I know, but that's a good look.
Look at the exhaust. To me, it seems that it getting wider near the end. They did talk about doing that to increase the noise of the cars. Hopefully it will have some effect.

Judge13? Is this the same guy who fabricated a story about Alonso calling Kimi "the savior of the nation" in Bahrain. Also, having a package that indicates 0.6s per lap in the CFD and windtunnel is not the same as having 0.6s on track. We should know that better than anyone.

Mercedes has singled out Ferrari as its biggest threat for the 2014 Formula 1 World Championship, even though the Italian marque recorded just one podium finish from the opening four races of the season.
Although Ferrari sits fifth and more than 100 points adrift of Mercedes, Silver Arrows chief Toto Wolff reckons the outfit has the development ability and driver talent in Fernando Alonso to mount a serious challenge.
"I think it will be Ferrari," said Wolff when asked which team he believes will put up the biggest fight.
"They are the only other team to have everything, car and powertrain, in-house.
"And I reckon Alonso to be a real race monster who can achieve anything."
Wolff expects Mercedes to be in a less dominant position at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.
"I am not afraid of this race but we enter it with a lot of respect," Wolff explained.
"Catalunya will prove how good our car really is, because we compete there on a 'Red Bull track'.
"We all know it will become tighter. If you look at Red Bull at the first test and where they went from there, they really made impressive progress. And Ferrari showed excellent shape too lately. So nothing is guaranteed."
