    Someone not in to motorsport once asked me about aerodynamics and could not work out why teams would spend so much on such tiny changes to it.

    There is a very simply way to show them how such a small change can make a different.

    Next time you are a passenger driving in a car, roll the window down. WHEN IT IS SAFE!!!!!!! stick you arm out a little holding you hand horizontal to the road a bit like the picture below.



    Then slowly rotate your hand either way towards a vertical position.

    You will find that even at slow speeds like 30mph, the amount of force you will feel pushing you hand and arm either up or down depending on your hands position is massive.

    Imagine at over 100 mph and with something designed for the job. The amount of down force a small winglet can produce is massive.

    Sound stupid but try it. It really doses work well.

    Another simple way to find out about Aerodynamics is to jump off a cliff with a parachute, and then try it without. You'll notice one hell of a difference!

    Yes, you must do in that order to notice the difference, otherway you won't be able to notice nothing else
