Alonso's Blog: Anger transformed into a desire to fight back

It wasn’t the Sunday we were expecting, that’s for sure. The Safety Car appeared at the worst possible moment for us and completely ruined our race. On Sunday evening, I was very angry about everything that happened, but now that anger has been transformed into positive energy driving a desire to fight back. Right from yesterday morning, my mind was already focussed on the next Grand Prix at Silverstone, where we will try and channel all that accumulated energy into the car to try and make up for what escaped us, for one reason or another, in Valencia, even if we know that, in theory, Silverstone is not a track that suits the characteristics of our car.

We were particularly unlucky in terms of the timing of when the safety car appeared on track. It would have only needed a few seconds more or less to totally change our race. It does not achieve much going over the events that followed on. Obviously, in the clear light of day, I am much calmer than I was in the moments immediately following the race. At the time, I reacted emotionally and in that situation, it is all too easy to adopt a tone and say things that can be interpreted wrongly, giving rise to suspicions, something which I had no intention of doing. Sure, I understand that the stewards have a difficult job to do and they have to take decisions that are not easy. What I meant was that those drivers who, like us, respected the regulations, unfortunately, in this situation, suffered much more than those who broke them, even though they were given a penalty. And I am not referring to any of the drivers in particular: it’s a general matter and I think we should talk about it together in a calm way, to ensure that things like this do not happen again. I was pleased to hear that the FIA has reacted promptly, calling an extraordinary meeting of the Sporting Working Group and I am confident, certain even, that all the points up for discussion will be cleared up in a comprehensive fashion.

Even if the Valencia result was not what we wanted, it has not done irreparable damage. It’s true that the gap to the leader has now jumped to 29 points, but we have not even reached the halfway point of the season. We trail by just over one win, so the situation is still very open. The updates we brought to Spain saw us make a step forward and get closer to the front runners. I am satisfied with that, but also aware that we must continue to push on with the development of the F10, because we need to have a car capable of fighting for pole and to give us the edge over our rivals as soon as possible. If we are now 29 points off the championship leader, it means that in the next ten races, we have to score at least 30 more than whoever is in the lead at any one time.

One of the most important aspects of everything that happened on Sunday is the fact that Mark Webber emerged almost completely unhurt from an accident that was as spectacular as it was frightening. It proves once again that the work led by the FIA in terms of safety is absolutely vital and it is clear that one should never get complacent about this element of the sport.

This evening, I will be in front of the television to watch my home team, Spain playing for a place in the quarter finals of the World Cup, against Portugal. It’s a very tough fixture: I reckon there will not be many goals and I just hope the decisive one will be scored by a Spaniard! As for Cristiano Ronaldo, I really hope he saves his goal scoring for next season with Real Madrid.

I'm glad FA made this statement as it helps in getting the FIA off our team's back.
Our team and drivers have all voiced their opinions altho in the heat of the moment(s)
maybe not in the most diplomatic way and it is now time to move on. The special
meeting called for in Silverstone is the result of our team's vociferous complaints and
for that all other teams (including the cheaters/rule benders) should be grateful since
all will benefit from new rules/clarifications that JUST MIGHT(?) result-OR NOT?
Let's now go back to beating them on track without polemics so that we won't be
seen to be crybabies. FIA as we all know stands for Fix It Again, and again, and again
and again..........................if it's broken or not.

    Aonso Blames emotion for outburst

    http://www.espnstar.com/motorsport/n...-for-outburst/

Fernando Alonso has admitted to "reacting emotionally" following a contentious European Grand Prix he claimed was "manipulated."

Although Alonso has not apologised for his outburst, which appeared to question the integrity of race director Charlie Whiting and his stewards, he has at least shifted his stance slightly.

After the race Alonso was scathing in his condemnation of what had unfolded, in particular after witnessing Lewis Hamilton overtake a safety car deployed following Mark Webber's spectacular crash.

The McLaren star was eventually given a drive-through penalty, yet managed to retain his second place that enabled him to extend his championship lead to six points over team-mate Jenson Button.

In contrast, Alonso, who had been directly behind Hamilton at the time of the incident, found himself held up by the safety car and eventually finished eighth.

With his anger now subsided, Alonso said: "We were particularly unlucky in terms of the timing of when the safety car appeared on track.

"It would have only needed a few seconds more or less to totally change our race.

"It does not achieve much going over the events that followed on, but obviously, in the clear light of day, I am much calmer than I was in the moments immediately following the race.

"At the time, I reacted emotionally and in that situation it is all too easy to adopt a tone and say things that can be interpreted wrongly, giving rise to suspicions, something which I had no intention of doing.

"Sure, I understand the stewards have a difficult job to do and they have to take decisions that are not easy.

"What I meant was that those drivers who, like us, respected the regulations, unfortunately in this situation, suffered much more than those who broke them, even though they were given a penalty."

Alonso had pointed an accusing finger at old rival Hamilton and although his tone was now a degree conciliatory, there will never be any love lost between the pair.

"I am not referring to any of the drivers in particular," added Alonso in his blog on Ferrari's official website.

"It's a general matter and I think we should talk about it together in a calm way to ensure that things like this do not happen again.

"I was pleased to hear the FIA has reacted promptly, calling an extraordinary meeting of the Sporting Working Group.

"I am confident, certain even, all the points up for discussion will be cleared up in a comprehensive fashion."

Alonso is now determined to direct his previously misguided fury into getting his and Ferrari's season back on track, starting with the British Grand Prix on July 11.

"On Sunday evening I was very angry about everything that happened, but now that anger has been transformed into positive energy driving a desire to fight back," said Alonso.

"My mind was already focused on the next grand prix at Silverstone.

"There we will try and channel all that accumulated energy into the car to try and make up for what escaped us, for one reason or another, in Valencia.
My love for the Red cars is Final. My integrity non-negotiable.

Am I the only one who would like FIA to punish Ferrari now?
    I really would like this...
That way, they will show even more how much they favor Hamster and his team...
70% (more or less) of F1 fans are red would make them regret it...
And after that, Ferrari to punish them on track with their speed...!

Don't know why, but I wish Ferrari to make even more noise with all happened this year till now...!

I actually thought the same. Yeah, punish Ferrari for saying this was a scandal, because its the thruth.

Instead we are apologizing, being 'diplomatic', running with the tail between our legs 'oh please master don't punish us'....

    Mosley must love this.

Good words by Alonso but its all PR work here, ALonso and Ferrari in general were robbed last Sunday and Hamilton acted like a RAT with the SC situation.. I just hope we can return the favor in Silverstone with a Ferrari 1-2...

Just hang on to the "in theory" part, mate. The car looked stable in the medium speed stuff in Valencia and the boys were able to extract good times so we're not yet done and dusted as far as Silverstone goes. We may just have a good weekend yet.

Be nice if it didn't suit us the way Valencia "didn't" suit RBR and McLiars

Oh trust me, if I was Stefano I would've stormed into CW's office just to flip him off right in front of his nose. Probably flipped a couple of tables and thrown a few computers around for good measure. And then in Santino Corleone fashion, I would've thrown a bunch of bills in his face to pay for damages.

The truth is, we don’t know exactly how the F10 is going to behave at Silverstone being known as a track having high speed corners and the need of a car with lots of downforce.
But we’re going to have to see how the new and improved blown rear difuser and exhaust system works (since it’s never been tested on that kind of track), and who knows, maybe we can be as good or BETTER (really hoping here) then the BULLS, especially since Ferrari said that they’re going to be bringing more updates for Silverstone as well as Germany.

So mate, there is still hope for a really good result there possibly a win...and really hoping for a 1-2 from us, especially since probably everybody at Maranello are filled up with anger and hatered towards McCheaters as to what happened in Valencia and are now determined to work twice as hard around the clock to make the F10 SUPER FAST and blow everybody out of the water.
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Don’t give a damn to what “theories” say; our bad luck cannot go any further, I mean it’s the limit. Also don’t forget that Ferrari still hold the lap record for this circuit which again according to theories suppose to suit McCheaters., so it means nothing can be predicted. Have faith in our team & drivers. It’s good to see we have a real fighter in Alonso who will never give up. He is still very much in hunt of WDC. It just takes couple of victories to change the situation…… take Valencia as a blessing in disguise, I am 100% sure we will see all fired up Ferrari for rest of the season. WCC looks tough though…

Base on previous races yes, we appears to have problems at circuit with many fast sweeping corner where aero downforce is important, and Silverstone is a track with lots of such high speed corners.

But IMO we've had some improvement in the last race, we were doing very well before our race went to hell after the SC car incident. If anything, Alonso is just playing it safe with his comments. It doesn't mean we'll suffer, just that nobody knows anything for sure until we actually get there.

I think this will be a perfect test to see if our upgrades have improve our performance with high downforce circuits

    Furia Roja
Or how an F1 race turned a few seconds in football - and we are not in South Africa

The race in Valencia we will certainly never forget for a long time ... We do not even realize it was a match that will mark not only this year's championships, but the next, as many things will change in the rules and operate within and outside events after last weekend ... But what facts speak? we go to do a short summary, staying just above the episode that the marked.

    Fly Like an Eagle

In the rhythm of Fly Like An Eagle, exceptional Seal, Webber made a mistake like an eagle on the brakes and flies over the car of Kovalainen. A terrifying flight (snapshot from the onboard camera is breathtaking), which fortunately for the Australian end up in the tires on the edge of the track without even a scratch. Here we put an asterisk, and a return to safety.

Automatically have a yellow flag and safety car entering the track. Cars come and go with great upheaval, especially the Ferrari be left well behind. At first we thought it was a delay to get the pit, with another strategic mistake in the Italian team. But after a few minutes Luca Colajanni comes to his statements on Italian TV to indicate some irregularity in the conduct of Hamilton, without explaining exactly what happened. Finally, after 35 minutes, we learn that penalizes Hamilton for overtaking the safety car, the Englishman has no problem to get out and remained in second place, where he finished inside the smiles ...

    Behind the scenes

Let us now look at what happened to the Ferrari team until the end of the race. In the ninth round, then the Hamilton net pass the safety car. that Vettel has already passed in front of Alonso while stuck behind the Englishman sees the safety car and as they write the regulations, brake and let it go ahead. Immediately notify the pit for the irregularity of Hamilton, who complained that the judge and wait for the verdict. They know that their fight is over, but a penalty Hamilton would bring them back to claim the championship. The Alonso then communicate with the pit to find out what happened, but wait in vain. Finally, when after 35 minutes of saying that the English came and went again to the same place, can not believe it and asks if it is ever true. From that moment, the group tries to ease the nerves of the end of the race, knowing its temperament.

    And in the end ...

Open the bag loose. Heavy statements from all the red team. So the Spaniard says: "It's a shame the race was manipulated! Anyone who respects the rules finishes ninth, anyone who violates the 2nd! These things do not happen again, we were side by side and finished second while I was ninth. For us the race was for second place, everything and everyone is against us, everything is permitted now. People came to see a sold and fight, what a shame! The jury took 35 minutes to see a crystal clear violation, I can not believe it. I'm in the position I would not be happy to finish second. When walks into the safety car that matters is the health of our colleague, not overshoot! We did not know if Webber breathed, and instead think about how to save, spend some thinking.

On the same wavelength and Domenicali: «The result of our struggle leaves a bitter taste. We all backgrounds to get a positive result and end up with worse grades harvest this year. I believe that the events with safety car brings discussion of evaluation methods such incidents and the sentences imposed. We do this sport credible in the eyes of fans and those who work in it. "

The President, Montezemolo, could not miss the continuing war against the FIA and Hamilton: «It is unacceptable for anyone who respects the laws be left behind, while those who violate the second to emerge. The race was yesterday Poulimenos. The Ferrari, much better this weekend, paid a very high price laws, and they trampled them punished with small fines. It is an extremely serious and unacceptable, creating bad precedents, throwing a veil of reliability in F1. We are confident that the FIA will take another look at what happened and correct mistakes.

    Why so many nerves?

Taking a look again at the episode, go to see in what way the nerves in the Ferrari ...

    1) The use of safety car. Why the safety car came after he had passed the first car? Fr Seitanidis writes correctly that began immediately after the accident occurred, but why not contacted by Vettel to wait until the safety car to pass? The accident was very serious A presence of doctors or ambulance on the track would be a huge risk.
    2) What took the jury 35 minutes whole to give a blatant penalty so the videos? Please remember that the termination of the infringement took place immediately after the Ferrari display by Alonso.
    3) As late as the judges, why not have a different sentence? Even the most ignorant f1 fan could understand that Hamilton would have practically no damage from the drive through. (Here it should be remembered that all vehicles are now equipped with gps and so everyone can know the exact location of cars on the track, so to know and what position will come after the English sentence).
    4) The dramatic statements by Hamilton after the race. Personally, I have not heard more false statements by a professional so serious long: "I remember very well tell the truth. I saw the safety car while me and I passed. "We remember well to overtake a safety car; which is so common to bypass the safety car is, not you remember? Complete disregard of regulations, and most importantly, indifference to the physical integrity his colleague ... Shame ...

    The world ...

Love to hate Ferrari + McLaren / Hamilton + frustration = World Cup outburst ... This formula gives us to understand about what prevails in the ranks of supporters of the Italian team. The fans can not digest what happened and put the blame on the English driver and the FIA: "As the World Cup with the tragic arbitration awards, so here we have rules so obscure that they can be checked by anyone with power. can no longer hide what helps the Hamilton ». "We are tired with Hamilton. We understood that they want to invest on it. It's all protected since it began. In its place would leave Ferrari. "For years we see an F1 is trying to break Ferrari's dominance in recent years. Shame, shame, shame, I'm in the position of the Ferrari will look to the U.S. .... "One I have to say: In front of Hamilton, the Schumacher seems like ... Gandhi's F1. Enough !»...

    And now what?

The match ended and now the Ferrari tries to pick up the pieces. The results are tragic and unfortunate and judges have banned the group to climb too high especially since the car showed it was much improved and could compete off the Red bull and McLaren. They know that things have become very difficult and waiting for a renewed McLaren at Silverstone understand that the league has lost.

There will then try to work is primarily in the background. We constantly put pressure so that such events do not recur and have a rate. Change the evaluation system breaches, tougher penalties and fairness for all. Special attention will focus on rules that have to do with the safety car. This ambiguity of the rules must be completed and will support the idea of two safety car: the starting line in the middle of the track, so there's always the opportunity comes in ahead of all the cars, giving everyone the same conditions to continue the fight.

Also, we are still waiting for a match to see if they still have hope, and then logically fall in the evolution of the car next year. They know the rules, are pilots and can begin work, so they can return to the top.

    In conclusion

The race thus ended, but the lock will continue for a long time. My personal view is consistent with that of the fans and the makers of Ferrari. What has been mildly acceptable. From a one pilot who did not care what is done, not interested colleague and fellow man and speed to win the race. Like saying to suffer an opposition player during the match (the World Cup has marked us even to the motor) and the opponent in front of the pass and put a goal. On the other hand, the cumbersome review process, but personally I do not see serving interests. I just would describe it mildly ... incompetent, and no one thought the penalty-touch given. The zoom on their faces after the drive-through says it all.

Sure, some things must change. First and foremost, we need to improve security and specifically the problem with cars that ... fly. It is observed that the slightest touch the front to the back of two cars behind the car turns into ... airplane with tragic results. The investigations have been done so far to eliminate this phenomenon continues, but have not yet been made.

Second, changing the system of the safety car. What happened is unacceptable and must be remedied. In the year 2010 may not be there so many ambiguities in the rules in such a technological game.

Third, changing the system of judges. Personally, judges from the ... Mozambique and Paraguay we have every bit of the games, leave me puzzled as to their usefulness. Few judges, knowledgeable and excellent with short drives to impose sanctions.

Fourth and finally, we must change the minds and Ferrari. They are right to grumble, to fidget, etc, but the dramatic image in the pilot claimed the match. The person who introduced the car in the race was good but just not enough. Especially when all of a waiting car player, and finally we see a car just enough to reach the Red Bull and McLaren. Another league seems to be lost - and there is no blame and no judge of Hamilton ...

And one last thing for the last ... Very good driver enormous talent, etc, etc. With those moves made throughout this year has created more enemies than created by Schumacher in 259 matches.
