Thumbs down Hamilton in touch with Alonso after Valencia

Lewis Hamilton has explained how he has been in contact with Fernando Alonso via text message following the controversy involving the pair at the European Grand Prix. The Spaniard was clearly annoyed with the Englishman during the race after the latter illegitimately overtook the Safety Car.

As the Safety Car was deployed at the start of Lap 10 following Mark Webber’s monster accident with Heikki Kovalainen, Hamilton overtook the Bernd Mayländer-driven vehicle by a narrow but illegal margin.

Whereas Hamilton shot ahead, both Ferraris were forced to lap slowly behind the Safety Car before making their pit-stopsWith Hamilton having been able to finish second whereas Alonso, who was caught behind the Safety Car, came home a highly disappointed eighth, Hamilton has since explained that he and his former team-mate have been in communication following Alonso’s comments which described the race as ‘manipulated’.

“We are in touch,” Lewis explained to Reuters. “He has my number and I have his number. We messaged the other day, things are cool. I just messaged him to see how he was doing and he said everything's cool, he knows how the racing world works and that this is a tough year.”

I think no matter what clothes Hamilton leaves home in, he will arrive at that meeting in brown corduroy pants.

McLaren PR: Hamilton you should text Alonso.
    Hamilton: Good idea.
Hamilton: How about this: "Suck it".
McLaren PR: I mean something we can use in front of the press to show that you are a nice guy.
    Hamilton: OK.
Hamilton: How about this: "Dear Alonso, how are you holding up?. I hope Spain win the world cup.

text message? i can see that since lh is a self-centerred sort.
yes, the brit press presents him as the "darling" of F1 (that is until he starts falling behind again...which may happen soon).

Totally agree. The heated rivalries are what should be an indispensable part of F1. I don't really like this PR rubbish.

EXACTLY!!!!... Lewser has always tried to portray himself as the innocent bystander to all the rubbish that happens around him. He did the same in 2007, and he continues to do it in 2010. I wonder how ppl dont see thru this facade. He is obviously political and quite a rat. Lol.. i sure wish we beat the pants off Mclaren in Silverstone. Total icing on the cake.
    sms from alonso after Silverstone:
FA- hey lewis, hope you are holding up well. Too bad you "didnt see" the SC in front of you before you went right into it.

Pure PR. Why does Lewis even feel the need to reveal this?
I'd love it if Fernando turned around and said "Er, nope, haven't heard a thing from Lewis."

Oh wait.. the sms from alonso will be in a language lewis can understand.. ie., RONSPEAK.

FA- Salutations lewis, how you holding up, too wholly unsatisfactory you didnt visually perceive the safety high performance mechanical conveyance in front of you before you hit him

Slightly off-topic, but just thinking about it, how many times has McLaren's PR department had to get Lewis out of sticky situations?

FA: He must have my old number. I've changed it a few years back.

Probably at McLaren PR department's suggestion but I'll give Hamilton the benefit of the doubt as Ferrari
PR guys would have suggested the same to our drivers if the shoe was on the other foot. Still don't care
much for Hamilton's attitude overall and this hasn't changed anything for me.
