Nope. Especially not in this session. IF we try it, we won't see it's effect until Qualifying 3. It damages the engine and it's not worth using until that point. That's why Red Bull seem to take such a large step forward in that session because they don't use it at any other point.

Vettel in the gravel, coming into the complex. He was on a PB on S1 and S2.

Doesn't hit the wall though, there's going to be a hell of a lot of gravel in those sidepods!

BBC F1 commentator David Croft: "Lewis Hamilton's crash looks like costing him big time. He remains in the pits with his car getting fixed and that means he's already missed what looks the best of the session, with the rain now coming down a touch harder. What impact might that have on his race chances come Sunday?"

and he lost it in the last corner....good lap until then
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

All the commentators saying Ferrari look very competitive this weekend

Trouble is, we've looked very competitive in most races this season and especially Valencia and Silverstone, yet we've not come away with the results. Hopefully we can turn it around this weekend.

1350: Alonso is on what Chandhok calls a "mega lap" but the Spaniard goes wide at the final corner and then does the same at the first corner of his next circuit.

McLaren test driver Gary Paffett on the BBC: "We knew it was going to be wet today so it was always going to be difficult. When it dried out in the first session it caught a few of the drivers out and although Lewis (Hamilton) was the only one to hit the wall, it could easily have happened to any of the drivers. The trouble was that, in that incident, he hit all four corners of the car, but we're still looking to have Lewis out before the end of the session. He knows the circuit and the car anyway, obviously, so while the crash was a shame, hopefully it won't be terminal [to his hopes]."

Yea, but it didn't happen to any other driver. It happened to Lewis.

Hamilton looks pretty quick, especially in P2 - that includes the straight though where they'll use the F-Duct.

Alonso looks very much on it though, long run pace, qualy pace etc.
