Alonso said that he had no worries about the performance of his Ferrari, despite winding up on the fifth row.

"We have never been P10 [at any point] this weekend," he added. "This is nothing to do with the performance of the car. It's the weather. The aim for the race remains the same. Maybe to win it, maybe to be on the podium. We will see."

Could be a very interesting race then...............

I missed the qualy but I didn't expect such a poor result. I know it's tomorrow's result what matters but...

Now I can only pray for rain, is it what better suits Alonso's car? I heard that but don't know what the problem was, I have to watch it tonight.

No, I will just pray for a good result tomorrow rain or no rain we need it.

There's bound to be rain, no way will the top 10 finish in the same sort of order they qualified. I'm not too worried (yet) as there's bound to be accidents or car failures. Anything can happen tomorrow.

Fingers crossed you are right Suzie. The way our luck has been going this season, it will be bright sunny weather tomorrow. I know I am being pessimistic, but I had very high hopes this weekend with all our developments...

Being an Alonsofan I of course wish Fernando to win, but I don't want Felipe to just let him go. I understand it works that way but in my view Felipe does not deserve that.....

The first corner is going to be a nail bitter. Theres surely going to be a tangle midfield. Heres hoping Alonso gets through it and it rains then for every lap of the race .

Yep, especially if the drivers aren't allowed to use the run-off like Kimi did last year. I think I will have my eyes firmly shut as they're going around La Source.

Lets hope at least one of the title contenders retires or crashes out tomorrow (Ramilton)

and alonso can use the wet weather set up to his advantage.. Surely it l rain enough to have the track wet for the entire race cos in a dry race we l be left for dead going on todays performance..

They were allowed to run wide on the GP2 and GP3 races this weekend, so I think they are allowed to do it like they did it last year.

Are ya sure about that.. I thought Mansell said today that at the driver briefing it was underlined not to use the run off area at LaSource..

There was a lot of running wide on starts/restarts behind SC on GP3 race and no penalties were given. Of course this isn't a guarantee that different rulesets are on the F1 race.

I hope for a SC start too because if it's raining Alonso can't win the race at the first corner but he can very very easily lose it.

Hamilton will be P1 on the straight after eau rouge. If its a 95% chance of rain tomorrow, Alonso with his epic rear wing is in with a good shout. The car to beat tomorrow will be the McLaren. Also lewis is great in the wet also so i'm hoping for a thunderstorm so our mechanical grip helps to accelerate us up the field.

Indeed, but it is certainly much better than being 17 points behind with 2 races to go under the old points system... and you do remember how that one ended up, don't you?

And by the way, it highlights why Ferrari needed to do the switch in Germany.
