Charlie Whiting should just make up his mind whether or not to cancel, cos then i can go back to bed

you know what, i think that they should postpone the quali, because there's nothing i love more than waking up on sunday morning at 4 a.m
but seriously, if it's unsafe, then they should postpone it

Whiting wants to begin qualifying at 2pm

Charlie Whiting will be poised to begin qualifying as scheduled at 2pm local.

But under the pouring Suzuka skies and with rivers of water running down the sloped pitlane, British television
BBC reports that if the FIA race director believes the conditions are not safe at 2pm, he will delay the start of the session for 15 minutes.

These 15 minute delays could then continue for up to 2 hours -- when the Japanese sun will be too low in the sky for the session to conclude in sufficient light.

The broadcaster also reported that the stewards' driver advisor this weekend, Alex Wurz, thinks the session should be called off altogether, with 10am on Sunday already pencilled in by the FIA as a potential delayed timeslot.

"We are not sure of the merits of running in these conditions," said Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn. "It will be too dangerous.

"I will be disappointed if we start qualifying. We could have the grid decided by championship order, that's happened before," he added.

    It seems it's cancelled.

    Qualifying tomorrow morning.

It seems the best option for RBR but driving in these conditions would be crazy.

    That's better

Really wish we would qualify today
In an event that someone crashes their car, at least they can fix it overnight

Imagine if someone crashed on tomorrow morning, would be tough to get it fixed by race

McLaren's Jenson Button: "The safety car is aquaplaning and in one of these things you're just floating. We'll go out in any conditions but when you get to a corner and the car's just floating. You can't control that. If it carries on like this, we're not going to go out today are we? We're in pretty good shape in these conditions. But I don't think we'll be doing much driving today."

It seems they already know Qualifying will be postponed for tomorrow morning but they might spend an hour or so talking about a delay for commercial purposes. It will be tomorrow morning.

Looking at that SC doing the rounds and all those rivers of water... not gonna happen in half an hour or an hour or whatever today. i wish I was wrong, coz I want to see some F1 and I think we'd do rather well in the wet, but I don't see this happening with all that rain..

Apparently German TV just asked their expert Ralf Schumacher for his thoughts on 2005 qualifying. He had no idea he was on pole...
