F1 boss Ecclestone hurt in £200,000 mugging

Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone suffered a head injury when muggers attacked him and escaped with jewellery worth £200,000.

The 80-year-old F1 supremo was robbed outside the headquarters of his business empire Formula One Holdings, in Knightsbridge, central London, Scotland Yard said.

Billionaire Mr Ecclestone was reportedly punched and kicked by four men who were lying in wait as he arrived at the HQ with his Brazilian girlfriend Fabiana Flosi.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called at about 10.30pm on Wednesday November 24 to reports of a man and a woman robbed on Princes Gate.

"The man was taken to a west London hospital for treatment to a minor head injury and was subsequently discharged. There were no reports of any other injuries.

"Officers from Westminster robbery squad are investigating. There have been no arrests and inquiries continue.

"The items stolen are believed to be a quantity of jewellery."

i dont like Bernie but he does not deserve this (no one does).

What a horrible thing to happen. I am glad he's OK though.

He probably likes to appear just like any other guy even though he's loaded. It's a sad reflection on our society.

They would have attacked him as he is any easy target, but what the hell was he doing walking around with basically the value of a semi-detached house in the midlands on him without security?

He may regret saying this in Brazil though a few weeks ago "They look for victims, they look for anyone that looks like a soft touch and not too bright," Ecclestone said. "The people that look a bit soft and simple, they will always have a go at."

I try to feel sorry but I think 4.000-5.000M people are in a worse situation right now than him, so I prefer to care about them.
He should try to get some private security, it's not like he can't afford them.
