did anyone see any pics of the new McLaren ? curious to what they did, since they hyped up their own shop saying their design might be controversial
nevermind...just checked the date of their unveiling.
are they playing it tactical by revealing their car AFTER the first real test session?

Anyone knows what kind of rearsuspension each team runs. Pull or pushrod?
lol, a few years back it was all about the keels. zero keel, v-keel, single keel. This year the hypes are the pull and pushrods? :p
Red Bull are running pull-rod and most teams have followed that.
Ferrari have stuck with push-rod in a way they believe will work better for them than switching to pull-rod. Push-rod is easier to adjust - dampers etc. Whereas Red Bull will need to take apart bits of the car to adjust theirs.
Yeah, I know Red Bull used it. I did just wounder if everybody followed them.
Just read Gary Andersons launchblog on Autosport. He did have some concerns over Ferraris agressive pushrod (them being moved forward) wich means the loads will be much greater.
I hope the others will struggle to adapt to pull rod. I mean, Red Bull have used it since 2009. So they have got the hang of it.
I read that Renault have pull rod.
Sauber push rod (but then they have gearbox and everything from Ferrari, so maybe thats natural)
I'm not seeing many KERS warning stickers on these cars?? Have most opted out again?
I think we & Mcloser has upper hand (KERS) compare to the rest...and I hope we'll gain extra experience during 09 and hope the relaibility workout to our way instead others teams when they run KERS and most important the weight distribution of KERS play vital role for tis championship...
Forza Ferrari...and team im most concern were Renault.
I think most will have it but for the first test it is a bit premature to run the KERS to. Right now it is all about checking the systems and look for any basic flaws on the car. IMHO
mmmm. My instinct says otherwise. Anyone thinking of running it this season would have it "at least" on-board from day 1, even if it's switched off.
Yeah that is what I meant. It's not on. Too many risks for a problem too early on in testing. KERS works we have seen that in 2009. There will be some troubles but if the car itself is OK you can still run it without KERS. That must be the first goal!
Edit: Do you need the sticker on the car even if it is turned off? Any rules on that especially in testing?
Looking at the cars launched so far, the Ferrari and Lotus are the best looking ones imo
Each car has something special on it. I must say that the Team Lotus looks great for it second year, wonder what will Virgin & HRT manage in their second attempt? Torro Rosso is imho so far the only car that looks old (2010), and I personally don't like the new Reno. Don't know what I don't like it just looks wrong to me (and it is not the livery!).
That rear is even better on the rb than it is on the Ferrari. But it seems messier somehow, and more unreliable maybe. I think we can both but some aero parts on it and make it go like a rocket.

Someone has any link where they have detailed info about the difference between the push and pull rod?
Thanks.

tks for the link Tifosi.

And we have to carry the extra bulk of a push-rod. so if we can get some sort of crazy diffuser related loophole, then they are screwed, as the best suspension for the DD is push rod, and they wont be able to copy it.
Hopefully that will negate any advantage to SidePodDiffuser.
Get thinking, boys!![]()

According to Fernando ferrari not only had KERS on board in the first test but also ran it. Apparently he was trying to get used to fiddling around with all the new buttons on the wheel.
Sounds like ferrari have seemingly got the KERS sorted atleast.

“But in the morning we started step-by-step, some laps we activate the KERS, some other laps we activate the rear wing, and then we start doing everything at the same time and getting used to it. Now in the afternoon everything was coming out automatically, so I think it’s good. Tomorrow plus Jerez will be enough to be completely confident on the new things.”
Now this is really great news! Maybe we are a little bit ahead of the pack in that respect.
Thx Zeus
Just found this on Autosport - RB anyone?
Reno also said they had the KERS running today...Originally Posted by Autosport
I would be very surprised if teams who already have the usual exhaust placements on the car will be able to change to the Renault style ones. That's a humongous re-design. Especially for something as tightly packaged as most of the cars we've seen. Maybe Lotus or HRT may have it or Force India and McLaren since they've not introduced their cars yet. As for the others - I highly doubt it.
If you consider how difficult it was for most teams to incorporate a blown diffuser in 2010, where the exhaust is only moving a matter of inches - imagine how hard this would be.
