Well one can hope. Someone on autosport (who is a Ferrari- fan btw) who was at the track yesterday reported that the RB has a lot of downforce and is going through the curves like its on rails. And that the Ferrari looks fast but a bit more nervous in the curves- same old, same old. I don't know though if RB is using things for the tests they will not be allowed to use in the races, but i doubt it.

In his spanish interview yesterday Fernando mentioned some problem with the engine in the morning which was the reason why he didn't came out on track for quite some time. For some reason this was not reported in any of the english interviews (or translations)- maybe he was asked not to mention it there.

IMHO this year with the high tyre degradation and movable rear wing it is not so important how fast you are over a single lap but rather how consistent you can be over a bunch of laps. But yeah I must admit it is frustrating me that RB seems to get it right the 3 year running...

I think we will gain more downforce once we start using the new parts. My guess is we have something truly innovative and not showing it yet to avoid being copied.. Come Bahrain, let the Red Bulls be on rails whereas we would be flying!!

I just hope we don't encounter the same engine problems that plagued us during the first half of the 2010 season...

Watching the RB7 Webber before entering the garage of Red Bull, we found the new layout of the exhaust was not in the car Tuesday but made his debut yesterday.

RB already copied that?

Or did they go for a similar solution beforehand...

The shutters to the Ferrari garage are closed. The greek site reporting that according to the team the car might not be back on track before 16.00. Good grief...

Cheste, 3 February – Felipe Massa’s first test day with the F150 certainly did not get off to the kind of start he would have wanted. As he was coming to the end of his first run of laps, the Brazilian had to park at the side of the track, with an oil leak caused by a broken clamp.

Unfortunately the lubricant ended up on the exhausts which led to a small fire breaking out and that caused some damage to the car. The mechanics immediately set to work on repairing the damage, but it is unlikely that the car will be back on track much before 3 in the afternoon.

sucks to see Massa having problems, i know some of you expected nothing else whatever the cause may be
seeing that car burn and smoke kinda hurts, but i guess thats why they are testing the car.
better here than in Bahrain

and

so much talk from the rb camp, they are lapping everyone if there was a race today???
thats an empty threat if i ever seen one...
1. simple fact...there is no race today
2. even if they have a good setup atm, they don't know what the other teams are doing at any given time so for all they know...force india might wipe the floor with everyone "if there was a race today!"

I think we had the same problem last year on the 3rd day of testing which was Alonso's first time out in red but Ferrari wasn't worried. Apparently they had run the same engine from the 1st day and it was to be expected. Maybe it's the same here but I guess planet et al are making a meal out of it!

From an Alonso fan:

Hi everyone. Went to Cheste today and some things i noticed watching the cars passing the first corner:

- Red Bull for me is the best car... by far. Vettel passed the corner faster than anyone and even didn´t have to take the kerb on the exit. I suppose it´s because of superior downforce.
- Ferrari looks fast, but the car seemed quite nervous on acceleration, compared to the Red Bul, wich was like going on rails.
- Mercedes. I think it´s going to be a great car, it wasn´t nervous and was well planted, but didn´t look like Rosberg was pushing at all. Great looking car by the way.
- Toro Rosso. Terrible car, looked like Alguersuari was running with worn tyres all the time.
- Renault, Sauber and Williams didn´t look special. The Renault engine screamed like crazyl!

Right now i´d say the pecking order is IMHO:

Red Bull>>>>Ferrari>Mercedes>>Renault>>Sauber>>William s>>>>>>Toro Rosso

BBC Live Test Coverage

'BBC Sport's Sarah Holt in Valencia has some more info... "I've just seen the TV footage - caught by our man Martin - of Felipe Massa's earlier incident. Massa lost control of the car in a figure-of-eight spin. He managed to collect the car and then carry on with smoke streaming from the rear of the Ferrari. That smoke then turned into fire, Massa spun again and came to a stop. There's some brilliant footage of Massa out of the car and furiously signalling to the fire marshals to put out the flames, waving his arms up and down in frustration. Ferrari later diagnosed the cause of Massa's woes as an oil leak and there was plenty of clearing up to be done on the track after the incident.'

I'm surprised the Renault didn't have any engine fires yet, those exhausts releasing heat in front of the radiator intakes is a big issue no matter how fast the gases flow. I'm still quite unsure about the innovation.

The exhaust systems of the bigger teams aren't ready yet. other teams will change their exhaust systems for the test in Barcelona and Bahrain. All the major teams are driving with 2010 wings and the final wings and exhaust systems will only be put on during the last tests.

Don't want to be cocky myself but come the heat and tracks with lot of vibrations then we will see how good it really is. Personally I think it will break down sooner rather than later...
