    New McLaren

Hi All, what are your thoughts on the "L" shaped air induction cubes on there new car, I think teams must be testing this out on the simulator, it would be interesting to see what drag difference this concept has and how air is difused onto the rear wing?

Well, i dont think anyone will be trying them, as they are trying to get the air to the bottom of the car, while mclarenare trying to get it to the top.

I don't think it's that they're trying to get air to the top. IMO, they're trying to just generally improve the airflow at the back of the car. Having those "channels" between the sidepods and cockpit help funnel the air better over the top of the diffuser.

IMO McLaren is trying to improve airflow to the beamwing. And because they have better airflow on the beam wing they can raise the crashstructure from the diffuser to the beamwing without losing DF on it and therefor they can get a cleaner flow over the diffuser while maintaining a good amount of air to the beam wing.

It's not a "if you do this the car will be faster" type of thing, it's a totally different philosphy. If Ferrari wants to do something similiar and actually gain from it they will have to redo the whole rear crash structure which, if i recall correct, is homologated and therefore impossible.

Ferrari are doing the exact opposite, getting the crash structure down to the diffuser because they have better airflow over the diffuser and therefor getting a cleaner flow over the beam wing.

sorry for spelling, i really didn't bother.

I thought this may be a thread about the new Mac road car. I find it interesting. Has anyone seen the pix of this yet? I have, in the new Road & Track. It looks like its
aimed at the 458. Resembles it overall shapewise. It produces 492 bhp, but achieves this number by the use of turbochargers. I look for Ferrari to soon up the hp numbers
of the 458 as no doubt, there will be comparisons all over the place. I also find it interesting that a former Ferrari guy designed the carbon chassis used on the new Mac.

Theres also a new 4 seat awd Ferrari!!! Im not sure many Ferrari fans will like its overall shape, but its probably a good move for Ferrari.

It's an interesting approach by McLaren. I think kazi explained it well. Their car probably has the most development potential, but first they need to understand the car a bit more.

Next year we might see some cars trying a similar approach, but I think Red Bull and Ferrari will instead continue down the path of evolution, and maybe add other radical ideas like the Renault exhausts - Ross Brawn seems to think they are very effective: http://www.ausmotive.com/2011/03/17/...d-exhaust.html

this year 2013 McLaren going to introduce a new racing car named MP4-28 and the teams expect this car will be un bitten in field as they try to do whatever they could do and they are working hard with this new idea which already successfully create challenge for all other team as a result all other team start to think about this new idea and searching way to bit this new car but McLaren and its supporter believe it is not so easy to bit it in field as it will be one of the modern racing car with all kind of facilities which will help it to become top in Formula 1.
