It doesn't matter if it is a one time thing or a season long thing, work to improve, encourage to be better yes. It is one thing to be disappointed in the performance of your team and want to see them do better, but the answer around here for far too many people is sack sack sack....so far this week we are getting rid of the team principal, the car designer, the technical director, all the mechanics and pitcrew....all because people cannot accept this is a highly competitive team sport and right now there are other teams that are enjoying that limelight and doing that little bit better. Gosh I wonder how many people in all the other teams lost their jobs and heads on pitchforks when Ferrari were winning everything in sight?

I can understand people being disappointed in the pitstops that is fair enough, but its a bit of an over-reaction to expect people to lose their jobs when things are not going the way you would want them in my personal opinion. Otherwise there would not be any employees left in most teams in the pitlane

    i try to be better
the thing that it is long term thing and for me shows low standards, sorry it is so. i work in a company that's very competitive and we cannot let us be behind the others even with traditions and such, maybe that's why i cannot stand the fact that ferrari is not improving and is settling with mediocrity out of habit. i don't know when is the time level or how far behind the others ferrari must land before they finally dare to change something and come out of their comfort zone. they got fernando and pat fry, but it's not enough. things that aren't working in long terms should be replaced with some fresh blood. i think that was already shown when massa had his accident and there was no-one decent enough to replace him. it's a cruel world and i don't mind encouraging team or so, but for me the time has come, somethings gotta change.
i'm not saying i want everyone to be sacked, i would like to see restructuring. and pitcrew to move a bit quicker, that is physical thing, not really as difficult as designing a winner car

I so agree... That Renault looks very good. Kubica woud be hard to beat in that car. Not that I underestimate the current Renault drivers - they're getting podiums 'on a constant basis' now. Maybe Ferrari are looking into that Renault's front facing exhaust solution? It looks handy, even though I'm sure there's more to their car.

You might find it strange, but I am not too unhappy with the results. Just a summary:
The car had the pace today +
Both drivers were fast enough +
    The car is reliable +

    and on the opposite side:
    the pitstops -
    Alonso's mistake -
DRS failing on Alonso's car -

We can improve the pitstops by just working harder on them.
Alonso's mistake was in a way also caused by the bad pitstops and the failing DRS , it brought him in that position.
DRS failure will not happen all the time, probably never again.

So all in all, we were not that bad. The car will improve more and more, Felipe definitely improved today and Fernando is always fast.
I have faith in the team and the drivers. We will be fighting for the championships this year.

Forza Ferrari, forza Fernando, forza Felipe !!

The minute something goes wrong its "sack, sack, sack" and the pitchforks come out. It is one thing asking for people to improve their performance and being disappointed in a slow or poor pitstop (god forbid human beings actually make errors in time critical highly pressured competitive situations) but quite another to think that the easiest or even most reasonable solution is to sack the lot of them. Who are you going to replace these mechanics with? these are the guys that set up and build the car also each race - perhaps we can lend Massa and Alonso the tools and they can build their own cars and do their own pitstops, or better still since we are all so fantastic at doing sub four second pitstops ourselves we should all get our cv's into Maranello

Just to clarify I have no problem with people being disappointed by mistakes or wanting the team to do better, its the whole hysterical "sack sack sack heads must roll" everytime something goes wrong....that I find a bit....

Might have something to do with the tires.

I was surprised by how late Alonso had his 3rd stop. Last race we were among the earliest of the front runner to do a stop. This time, both Vettel and Alonso did their 3rd stop last among the front runners.

Yes well you had better hope then one day there isn't someone who is 0.5 seconds faster at a task than you then......as your head will be on the line....but that is perfectly acceptable for them to get rid of you then eh? despite all your experience and all the other qualites you bring to the team?

Nothing wrong with change, but it has to be done in the right way, by learning new methods and techniques, adopting new methods of training, bringing in the right people to assess the situation and play to the strengths of the team. Pat Fry and the guy from Red Bull (I forget his name) have not been in post all that long, but it seems your unwilling to give them time to see if they can effect the changes needed. Sacking people is demoralising and destabilising to the entire team, it doesn't bring what you seek, it undermines the confidence of the other employees and people do not give their best when there is an axe hanging over their heads.

I'm not denying there are changes that need to be made, and we are lacking in some areas and need to up our game as a team. The difference is I have faith that the team have the ability to sort this out for themselves, and do not sit in my armchair thinking I could do a better job and calling for peoples heads especially when I do not have the expertise, training and experience in the sport

luckily there are more good qualities in me than only my speed i'm not here to talk about my work experience, but i sort of know how to keep myself in safe position
okay, i'm admitting that my first reaction was to sack all the pitcrew and that was wrong, they should do something with that my left hand side which was constantly slower than right hand side.
i give pat fry a lot of time and freedom to say what he wants, there are other people in this forum who'll rather say that he is the new kid on the block and has no right to critizice drivers or team, which i btw find very good. i know that people who come from the outside see things better than the one's who have been forever in the inside. they see what needs to be improved and they come with different working background. and i certainly welcome him and that rb guy who's name i forget too all the time, to the team. i just think it's not enough.
i have faith too, but i'd have a lot more of it when they'd finally realize that it's 2011 and not 2000-2004 when they were dominating. until they are too reluctant to change it, this faith is starting to disappear. and i still say i don't want the whole team to be sacked.

Have you noticed something the last 2 years?
Massa is constantly better than Alonso in the starts...
    Why?

I mean, Alonso should improve that I think.
I can't remember him to gain any positions in any race start...
(maybe one or two in the whole season, last year?)

    frustrating race...

we had the pace ,but mistakes and maybe bad wheel nut design cost us our podiums...first the bad stop with Felipe and then the bad stop with Alonso and his mistake..

our pit stop could be slow because of the wheelnut we introduced back in 2010..
maybe they should take a look at this before sacking anyone or us thinking of that...Maybe the wheelnut with heat and debris etc can lock up making it hard to remove.
That strange thing is that this isn`t the first time it happend and we don`t seem to do something about it ,or maybe WE just don`t hear us doing something about it...just my 2 cents...

    About the failing DRS...
Funny thing is I watched the intro of the race on the BBC, and when I saw Brundle explaining DRS on the Ferrari and touching it when doing so.. I had a bad gut feeling that it was Alonso car and that it would fail in the race....

This was a good race for Ferrari, yes we didnt get the results, but as I mentioned (to myself 8) b4 race, we are going to have
much better race pace, and we did. We actually have a pretty good car..notice I said actually, translates to yes it needs more speed,
but to see Mac so fast in Q, yet to have the Ferrari all over them in the race is very promising..we were good enough for 2nd and 3rd place..
in race pace..although that didnt translate in the results, I think we have a car that will get better. Once we get rolling and stop some of the
mistakes, we will start seeing better results. And how about that odd wing failure on FA's car?

On another note, all these posts about sacking people..I dont get it...sure there were mistakes, but it must be great to be able to
go thru life mistake free...it dont work that way...So quit yer whinin n either get behind the team, or get behind another team.
All of these negative remarks are getting rather tiresome. Sure its ok to criticize the team, I do it all the time, but to constantly bash n bash n bash..
    fire n bash, bash n fire....holy smokes....

We looked good today. Only if we had the one lap pace issues fixed to have better position in qualifying!

I am relatively happy with this weekend!

We cannot afford a faulty DRS since we have to start on the 2nd or 3rd row and will have to use it more often than not. All the winter testing should have ironed out that kind of gremlins.

After yesterday, iam happy with how the car performed today. Had some real good pace. Both Fernando and Felipe were driving well and hard. Shame about pit stop. So close to podium with first Felipe, and then Fernando, chasing and fighting hard with Lewis. So close, it will come, i have 100% faith and trust in team.

Yet again, Kobi, wow some good overtakes from him.

We could have easily achieved 3rd but the DRS failure is to blame, anyway, that tends to happen. Second could have been possible too but it's easy to speak with hindsight now. Apart from the lack of speed in qualifying and the problems with the car's pace overall compared to the Red Bull the other major problem I see are our pit stops, they are way too slow. Last year they were similar, some times when watching them on TV they seem like an eternity compared with the other team's stops specially, once again RB.

Now we just need to work very hard and give it 200% in the development race, we need to be twice as fast in this area. Red Bull is pretty good with this but we know that McLaren is a very good in working on the development of the car and we just saw this from testing to Melbourne. And if we do bring many new components every race and at a fast rate these have to work, and put us ahead of the other teams. After this race I feel confident on race pace but I doubt we'll be able to rapidly get ahead of RB as the season goes on. I hope al works out perfectly and we do have a realistic chance of fighting for the championship, and of course win, after all there's no doubt Ferrari is the best.

I really enjoyed the race, I think there are a lot of positives to be taken from it - we do seem to be a lot better in the races than we are in quali.

I thought Felipe had a really good, solid race - great start as (almost) always, kept his nose clean, seemed to have a lot of fight in him. I think the criticism aimed at him after Oz was unjustified, really (I do dread to think what would be said about him if it had been him that crashed into the back of Lewis). It's a pity that the first pitstop didn't go well as who knows where he could have ended up, but our pitcrew isn't infallible; human errors happen and we shouldn't forget all the great work they have done in the past.

Nando made a mistake but these things happen and he was driving a good race up until then. I could watch him and Lewis tussling all day, it's so much fun seeing those two given their history. Would love to see a really bitter championship battle between the two of them without those pesky Red Bulls interfering

I agree on Felipe...he looked like...well....Felipe....more to come I bet..

What I notice watching this again, it seems like just when we get a good fight going between 2 cars, the tires start to give up
on 1 of them....what these new tires do is take away close intense racing for long periods in exchange for so called excitement
in the pits...Id rather see more on track fighting...

One reason why i'm so happy. this is going to be an epic battle. I used to hate Mac, but they have become tolerable aaprt from that Tim guy at the start. RedBull are now just plain annoying now, so this season will be epic.

EDIT: also, why the hell wasn' this guy on our pit team?

On second thoughts he may have been, and he may have got his arms mixed up.

After watching this again, I have to say, how did Button end up 2nd? Does he know how to manage these tires?
He must, Ham ate his up, Felipe looked really good...as long as the tires lasted...Ferrari is looking good on race pace...but these tires..
it appears the fia have managed to change things, mabey a bit too much..to watch great battles only last as long as a few laps due to
the tires is a bit of a drag...I really think Felipe coudve done better if it were not for the tires, but hey, Im a Ferrari guy, so why wouldnt I
think that...Ok, so RB is the fastest, but our race pace proved we're closer to Mac than thought, except for...drum roll...tires..its like
who ever changes tires last finishes better....
