Alonso wanted to cut Hamilton's tyre?

Read the complete article here http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/...#comment-46625

The other point to consider is that Whiting did not consider the collision to have been sufficiently serious to warrant an investigation during the race, so he must therefore have looked at it again later and decided to report the incident to the Stewards. What was that he saw that led him to take action? Did he, perhaps, suspect that Alonso ran into Hamilton deliberately, hoping to cut the McLaren driver’s rear tyre and that the move backfired and he damaged his front wing?

Who come a serious journalist can rise such a question?

The quality of Joe Saward's blog has been declining for sometime now - tbh I gave up reading it months ago. I see from the quote above that it hasn't improved much.

Obviously he has no idea how fragile F1 cars are. And Nando would have to be mad to even try it.
Who is this journo? needs to change his line of reporting. Conspiracy theories and terrorism comes to mind. Ideal set up for him.

As if any driver would risk his own and another's life life to do just that!!!!!! These drivers have such respect for one another.
The sad thing is that those who want to believe it will.

Yeah right, just because our wing doesn't flexes he thinks its made of concrete

Any sane driver knows those wings are fragile and a little contact could shred them to pieces.

this is nothing compared to the mirror's articles on f1. complete joke. amateurs, and knownothings. apparently lewis raged at his team, and Stefano said button was rulebreaker.

we should pay no attention to this rubbish. At least Autosport are quite good, as is Andrew Benson. really enjoy his blogs, and always impartial.

I'm surprised that this was on Joe Saward's blog, I always found it a bit more rational than most.
I wouldn't even entertain the notion that this was true.

That's so stupid, I hope he was a bit sarcastic or something? Alonso always avoid touching other cars, not all drivers can say that, if he hit Hamilton it was a mistake but he knows 99% of the times he would have to change his front wing. It was a bit unlucky that both him and Hamilton moved to the right at the same time and that the DRS didn't work. It was 3rd place so easy, I still feel the pain.

No one could take that seriously as an idea. Must be tongue in cheek otherwise it makes him look rather naive of the sport and he's not.

That's as intelligent as kicking someone's feet with your nuts.
BTW it's pretty obvious from Grillo's images and for anyone who saw the video from that angle that Hamilton moves to the right just when Alonso tries to move alongside him from the right, so it was probably a racing incident and in no way Alonso's fault.

Can someone explain to me WHY, Alosnso was charged with a 20 second penalty? I know it did not cost him in the final results but, why? It was IMO a racing incident.

Stewards are much stricter these days but if they've given a penalty for that then they're gonna have to be consistent and we'll see a lot more. It was useless though really. Alonso had already got his 'penalty' by damaging the car and the 20 seconds did absolutely nothing to his finishing position so what was the point?

Did he, perhaps, want to even up things a little bit after realising that Hamilton was going to be punished?

See, Mr Saward? I can come up with little insidious questions too! And almost as nonsensical as yours...

I'd like to think that's a primary objective of every driver unless they are in a demolition derby, so I don't suppose Fernando has exclusive rights to the concept of not hitting other cars.

But yeah I can't imagine why Saward would even suggest that when it was clear that it was just a matter of time before Alonso got Hamilton.

Looks like Alonso was taken by surprise as Lewis moved to the right just when Alonso begin pulling to the right.

To be honest, I wouldn't say its Alonso mistake at all, rather it looks like a rough defend by Lewis which was a little too late. Lewis was way off the racing line there which indicates he deliberately moved right to defend, but it was executed too late. Instead of doing it while Alonso was in tow, he moved just when Alonso was already moving to his side.

Notice how Lewis was on the racing line when Alonso was having a tow, and he only moved as Alonso was making his own move.

I can understand why Alonso was furious about it
