Thats cool. It would be interesting to see if a graphic could be adopted from that for during the race to show people.

In Sepang Webber made 5 stops and still finished in front of Felipe?

Webber made 4 stops and Felipe 3. Each color on Ste's chart represents a set of tyres, but as he starts with a set on to use 5 sets of tyres he makes 4 stops.

Stops at Malaysia are a little over 20 seconds and, given Felipe lost nearly 10 seconds on his botched stop and also how slow the rest of his stops were pretty much account for his 3 stops taking about as long as Webbo's 4 stops. But, on track, earlier on, Felipe did manage to overtake Mark, and that was just great to watch.

I'm hoping the tide is turning on the Felipe front. If he can improve further in China that will be just grand

That's really good . However, we also need to see a line chart of lap times shown against the same info. That way we would see more into the optimum period for each tyre set and also the "cliff" that they fall off performance wise - which everyone is talking about but of which we don't see much evidence during a race.

Nice Info. Why they can't show that kind of stuff on-line during a race is beyond me. It's perfectly possible.

Online only I was meaning Ken Don't think you'd fit all of that on the screen to be honest and most TV punters prolly couldn't care less anyway. FOM already make timings available in real time so why not groovy analysis too?

    Thanks for the update Ste.

I'm surprise by the small gap between Massa and Hamilton's final stint. The performance difference was day and night just because of that extra few laps we did.

I'm hoping this isn't an indication of how different both cars wears the tires

I forgot how odd Hamilton's three stop was. He did a longer first stint than Vettel but then had a really short second stint. Obviously it's difficult to criticise since they won the race but surely more equal stint would have been faster and therefore a three stopper had an even bigger advantage over two stops than it appeared?

Updated with tyre analysis from Barcelona.

Our pace on primes was horrific. Good insight in the article.
