5 grid penalty? Not much of a deterrent. You should be banned from participating in qualifying.

The whole reprimand idea has been twisted into favouring drivers of the likes of Lewis Hamilton but not only, in order for not penalizing them and with this, now, they officially tell them (should it go on) that they can just go on and do this three times and just get a punishment (and what a punishment mind you!) once!

    Rubbish!
As I already said in this thread I remember JV, MS etc getting warnings for being fast under yellow flags in 1997, JV then done it again and got banned for a race at Suzuka (which he raced under appeal) so I am not sure things are all that different these days, Hakkinen took pole at Monaco one year while yellows were out and they done nothing about it.

There was a ban tho back then wasn't there? And I am sure if we look further back, we 'll find punishments.

In these days all you see is smacking of the back of the head, or should I say patting? Really I feel is not the same thing. I could for example accept an escalation of the punishments. For example you do it 3 times you get 10 places (not 5) down the grid. You keep on doing it? the fourth time you start from the pit lane. Next time? You miss a race.

That could hold people from doing stupid things.
