Will we be strong in Monaco?

Right so Alonso seemed pessimistic, saying that we lack downforce, and that our maximum amount of downforce (which we will run in Monaco) is less than what Red Bull and Mclaren have.

However, i was under the impression that aerodynamic downforce was not so important at Monaco due to the corners being so slow and sharp. Also, the surface is smooth with lots of bumps, meaning mechanical grip is more important. Mechanically, i think we are ok, no?

    That's not pessimistic, it's a fact.
I agree, downforce doesn't seem so important in Monaco, but tires will suffer a lot if we don't fix the lack of it. Mechanically, I would've say we're OK last week, but Massa's car failure in Barcelona fills me with doubts.

I have the impression we won't make the podium again yet. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure it will be another RB vs McLaren contest, unfortunately.

We were well off pace in 2009 but kimi managed to out the car P2 so i think we have a chance at a descent result

could of won last year if Fernando didint have his crash in FP3. Started 24th and finished 6th. Think be interesting as raw speed doesnt count around there. Think we can get right into the mix of things. Plus, if Felipe and Fernando get good start positions, and start to hopefully jump RBR and Mclaren, could stay there for the race or most of it.

I will say no, we will not be strong, probably fighting for 5th again, we lack downforce we might even slip being the silver tractors and Renault.

Any info on our updates for Monaco? It should be "Phase 3"... What should be introduced and how big updates will be? Can we test them right at all on such a specific track?

Ye very true.. Looks good for Monaco if we keep it together and then see what these upgrades do in canada.

lets hope that isnt the case. I know our downforce isnt, great. But that doesnt happen. After last weekends humiliating being lapped, the only way is surely up.

I'm hoping that the super-soft tyres will help us - also, surely there will be a safety car. Maybe for once that would work in our favour!
If Vettel wins again, I dunno... I might start watching table-tennis or tiddlywinks or something instead.

While aero downforce doesn't play a big part in many corners, I wonder how important will the blown diffuser thing be. I really hope the Renaults wouldn't spring a surprise and beat us

A Ferrari 1-2 would be really good for us to bring up our morale, although I think is a little bit farfetched.
So we will have to see first how the practice will go, before we make any BIG predictions.
But like many have said here, if we still continue to struggle in Monaco, as well as the BIG upgrade we’re supposed to have for Canada don’t put us on the TOP step there, I think the Bulls will pretty much run away with the championship.

Then again I want all of you including FERRARI to prove me WRONG.
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Podium would be a great achievement. 5th tops IMHO. We'll have v good idea after 1st practice tomorrow. We didn't look as quick as McBull combination on long runs last Friday.

No frickin idea. Need to see the practice sessions' results first, I guess.
Realistically, fighting for a podium would be a dream. Even more realistically, we will need to fend off the Renaults and Merc, which will not be easy.
    Any car updates this weekend?

We are going so strong, that we will get pole and win . Fernando it's very good in this track and he won 2 times here, if he it's not in top 4 I will be socked.

I am cautiously optimistic that we can fight for podium. I think I saw that there would be super-soft and soft tires in Monaco. I think we are more competitive on these tires than the medium and hard.
    Cheers,

Whatever- we still need to finish in front of the four in front of us and I am not positive at the moment.........Monaco is a bit of a lottery but if the Bulls are up front they will stay there no matter what happens.......(NASCAR shirt ready for the switch........)

I think we can get a very good result in Monaco. But a very good result might be misleading as it is a track where we tend to do well. The real test will be how we perform in Valencia and Montreal. How we do in those two races will determine whether or not we have a competitive car and if we don't the chances of winning this years WDC are looking very remote.

I really thought that this year the car would be very competitive when we were so close to winning the WDC last year. It is obvious that if our car was slightly more competitive last year we would have walked away with the WDC. We were 2nd fastest at best but generally 3rd fastest last year but we were the strongest contender to win the WDC going into the last race. Surely, Ferrari have realised this and really need to give Alonso a better car. They are paying big monies to Alonso. It is not a worthwile investment to take on one of the best drivers on the grid only to give him a mediocre car. He deserves better than this.

In Monaco we will see for the first time only soft and supersoft tires and here we have some advantage over Mc ace and red cows. Maybe in the next three races is that start to turnaround this championship. And remember in Monaco pole is very important a tyre will be fundamental. We got here a shoot.

Downforce is very important at Monaco - that is pretty obvious. We are also lacking downforce compared to McLaren and Red Bull.

The advantage we do have are the tyres suit us better, and we have better mechanical grip.

This probably isn't enough to beat Red Bull, but maybe McLaren. The podium is still a realistic target.

I do agree with all your comments, I am just sending positive vibes out there and I know that Ferrari will reacted immediately ... Monaco is our circuit, the driver has more of say here and we have the best drivers!!!

That's the thing about how planted we are on the back foot: the super-softs may help us, but this factor is unfortunately exponential--we get 2 tenths out of them, RBR and McLaren get 8 tenths to a second.

Also, given our recent reaction-to-race-event performances, I'm not so sure the safety car will be of much help to us.

And just to brighten up things, I don't think the high premium on mechanical grip will favor us as well. The Red Bull's traction out of corners has been overlooked I think; and in the painfully slow corners around Monaco, this may prove too much for us.

I'm not confident about our chances at success at Monaco, but heck it's a motor race and anything can happen.
