    Ferrari Pitstops

Ferrari's total time in pits for Massa was 1.11 minutes, which was the quickest of anyone including RB, this is really good news as the guys seem to have got their act together.

However, Alonso's total time was 1.14 minutes, the slowest of all the top cars except Vettel. How come Alonso's pitstop was so poor?

Wasn't one of Fernando's stops a 5 second one, as opposed to 3 seconds, due to one of the Mclarens coming into it's box just as we should've released Fernando.

yep. and another was 4s, when Vettel came in aswell, probably because the guys stopped to laugh at RedBull duffing theirs up.

The pit stops were really good but in Felipe's case it didn't really matter when you do them at the wrong time.

Yeah I guess that's the price he pays for being behind Nando but it did seem to compromise him on Sunday.

Thanks for the explanation guys, makes sense now.

I real do feel sorry for Massa, but would you change the circumstances if you could? I know I wouldn't.

    lol true.

It's usually BBC praising RB, that bias comes from coulthard, he's like a constant human advertisement.

Not really. Correct me if I am wrong, but there should be no problem in pitting Massa on the lap after pitting Alonso, instead of two or three laps later, shouldn't it? Why did the team wait for so long? I know that on his second pit stop they mirrored Button, but I cannot understand what happened on the next one. There may be a good explanation for it that I am missing, does anyone know?

It's always the same story at Ferrari.

Few drivers making a stop on lap x (usually a McLaren)

Ferrari react and bring Fernando in on lap x+1 (together with Webber and the other McLaren)

Felipe has to stop on lap x+2 (together with Vettel who has a big lead) and loses a positon to one of the McLarens
Sunday he was the very last driver to change his inters.

Never ever will they take the initiative themselves

But this didn't worry me as much as his final stop only on lap 41 (all others between 36 and 39). Hamilton was in trouble and yet they wait so long and let him stay out so he could hold up other drivers a bit.

Yeah, this is correct. Massa's late stop is not because Ferrari choose to pit Alonso first, because then Massa would have come in next, its a standard procedure every team is capable of doing, back to back pit stops. For some reason Massa stop much later than that which means its planned to be that way. Maybe Massa was trying to stay out longer and see how far he could take the tires?

Having nothing to lose, (Felipe was at that time 5th) I think the team wanted him, at the end of the race, with very fresh tires so try and pass Hamilton (who already had fuel problems).
