Could it be true this time

Jul.12 (GMM) Red Bull is planning to pair Sebastian Vettel with his friend Kimi Raikkonen in 2012 is the sensational claim of the high-circulation Bild-Zeitung, less than two days after Mark Webber ignored team orders at the end of the British grand prix.

If this Kimi move is true, what an insult to Mark Webber!!

Kimi & Vettel are friends?! You live and learn I guess...
Could it... would it... should it... I personally don't believe it at all (it's Bild!), but if it actually comes to reality, good for them... Then again, it's hard to see why RBR would swap a proven racer like Mark for a driver who's been out of F1 for 2 years and whose performance/commitment even before retiring was rather questionable. If they want to get rid of Mark, I always believed they'd rather go for one of the very talented drivers on the current grid, which there are plenty of (Nico, Koba, Lew, you name it!). But then again, what do I know!

Sadly these days it's all about money and PR. Big names, even old ones bring sponsors and much needed cash!!!!
Personally I would like to see Webber stay but if all accounts are correct then his position at RB could be untenable.

Yes I agree on the young blood thing. Enough old(ish)/retired/uncommitted drivers in F1. Some of the kids atm, if you want them to be killers they need a seat in a competitive car right away!!! Enough of this "get experience in smaller/average/crap team and then we will sign you, it is nonsense!!! You want to learn to be a good swimmer, straight in the big pool with no buoys, if your up for it you''ll be on top of the water quickly enough, that's my view on it! (Look at Vettel and Lewser)

I love Kimi... Hate RBR... My head may explode trying to figure this out.

I doubt it, bust I also doubted Kimi leaving before his contract ending... So who the hell knows anymore.

Raikkonen is still only 31 and he didn't retire, Ferrari kicked him out. For sure I would rather have Alguersuari as an opponent than Kimi.

i've heard that RB wanted Ricciardo to drive Force India this year, so he could skip TR and step into RB from next season. i don't think Kimi has a chance here

and Ross Brawn was more than sure that after winning his first and only title with his team Jenson Button would stick around for longer and sign a new contract. little did he know...
if he signs a new contract, it will be clearly a contract which states he's the nr2 driver. i don't think he'll do that

I don't really think his ambitions are up there now, he is 35. Why go to an average team to finish off a career when you can drive a Newey designed car even as a 2nd driver? I'm sure RB pay quite well also which is a rather important factor regarding the live style of our F1 drivers.

An article in Autosport today says RB moneybags Mateschitz stated that Webber will
stay at RB. He would really be foolish to leave for another team
and a lesser car at this stage in his career and there's nothing preventing
him from cresting higher and even surpassing Vettel tho I do have my
doubts about that ever coming to pass. Nevertheless, RB is the
'buttered side of the toast" for the time being.

Raikkonen will need a few races to get back to speed, nearly a whole season maybe?

I don't think it's a sensible decision but Kimi fits in there better than Webber.
