Well this actually the first concrete good news about next season in weeks. Rory was magical back in the day, lets hope he still has that touch.

Jokes aside, I don't think Felipe is a match for Fernando. He has improved his pace in the last couple of races though and it actually brought a smile to my face.

    Ciao, Rory.
I doubt the KERS can output 1.21 Gigawatts. You can only get that from a bolt of lightning!

With all due respect to Ferrari... They need to STFU, but their nose to the grindstone because come next year, this may all be hot air as it was in years past. Stop bragging about what they are doing and who they are talking to and just do it! Because guess what? If they fail yet again after all this talk they will look the fool even more so.

The Spanish champion, in fact, loves be sitting very low in the cockpit, a riding position that prevents a good visibility at times: during practice for the Grand Prix of Germany, for example, was put to the body a thick precisely to find out exactly how Fernando could further limit his view, especially the side.
? He wants less visibility by sitting lower in the cockpit? That does not make any sense. Are we going to have a season of accidental shunts as he has less visibility on both his sides?

I think that results from the inaccuracy of the auto translator

I think it may mean that Alonso likes sitting lower in the cockpit but they are looking for ways to improve visibility while sitting lower.

It makes no sense why anyone would want to further find ways to limit their visibility

here is a quote, straight from Stefano.

"I see a great relationship between Pat and Nikolas Tombazis, and also the great work Rory Byrne still does for us as a consultant."

something along those lines. can't find the article, but should be on the Ferrari website.

Oh yeah and if the FiA actually mean it when they say they are going to end EBD's and using the engine to gain aeros I think that we are looking great for next year.

    Agreed.

Perhaps Fernando is hoping for a kind of motorised toboggan? Sounds good to me

Rory Byrne being lured back to help Ferrari?

Rory Byrne in his role as Ferrari chief designer in 2007

Sep.19 (PVM) Rory Byrne is reportedly being approached by Ferrari with regards to the design of their 2012 car which is already a work in progress.

Omni Corse reports that Byrne, the South African design guru who was an instrumental part of the all conquering Michael Schumacher-Ross Brawn dream team at Benetton and Ferrari, has been approached by Pat Fry to contribute to the team’s 2012 challenger.

Byrne ‘retired’ to Thailand after Ferrari’s ‘golden era’ but now, the astute interpreter of Formula 1 rules, is on Fry’s shopping list to strengthen the technical team at Maranello.

Already the 2012 car is taking shape with Fernando Alonso in mind, which includes a lower seating position and a longer wheelbase to address the tyre heating problems the Ferrari 150 Italia has been plagued with this season.

Fry, formerly at McLaren, is overseeing the project, which included the likes of James Tortora (simulation), Ioannis Veludis (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and Rupert Daraker (aerodynamics), with Nikolas Tombazis heading the design team and Byrne, possibly, drafted in to the setup as a consultant.

Pressure is on team principal Stefano Domenicali to deliver a championship winning contender, who has talked the talk of late and next season must deliver or he is likely to face the axe

I seems to remember not too long ago, we had one of the longest wheelbase, and it was a weakness. Now our 2nd shortest wheelbase becomes a weakness to us

but it was only a weakness in Monaco, Canada, Hungary. we killed the others at the other tracks, and then fixed that problem still with a long wheelbase the next year. .

You'd have to test it separately, cutting into total test time, which is limited. In essence you'd be cheating each version of half (or thereabouts) of the test time.

Rory is a genius. If any one person could be singled out for the Schumi years (1. besides Schumi and 2. I know you really can't do that ) it's Rory.

Not only that, but I think it indicates that we are at least close, development wise. I doubt Rory would come at this stage in his life, if he had to start from scratch.

Sinfapore is almost upon us, and I really hope we can secure a victory, but you know, a podium finish wih eithere Felipe or Fernando up there would still have me celebrating.

Could it be that Bryne would help interpret the rules for us to find ways of coming up with something "sneaky" next year

Would be great if for once we come up with something special that other teams will complain about for a change

Indeed. He is a legend, perhaps not getting as much credit due to Schumi's own impressive success which the public could see rather than the work that's going on back in the factory.

I'd prefer him over Newey any day
