    Felipe's luck... or lack of

I know that bad luck happens to everyone but I'm feeling a wee bit despondent tonight about Felipe's luck. He's been affected by bad pitstops and other people's stupidity nearly all season. Obviously Fernando is a better driver but I really don't believe that Felipe's points tally is representative of how he has driven this year.

When will he ever catch a break

Hopefully he's getting all his bad luck out of the way this year and his fortunes will turn next season. This can't continue forever, surely.

just a little sentance from Felipe on Ferrari site "I would really like to have a trouble free race at some point, something that I have not experienced recently"

will happen soon. I really hope so. At the end of the race, the move he pulled on Perez was what we like to see. Be nice for last few races for lady luck to be on Felipes side pod.

There have been some awesome moves by Felipe this year and he is a great talent, no doubt about that. He is a fair and gutsy racer. Hopefully he can shake off this 'bad luck' and with the improved car Ferrari produces next year, he won't give a reason for the team to replace him

    Just hope you are right.
Like Suzie I feel very sad to-night for Felipe. He has drove really wll this year imo yet his results do not reflect the quality of his driving

no they dont. He has done good. Hate to see it happen to him, because he gets undue grief from "fans" and press.

Singapore is certainly not Massa's lucky spot Hopefully that will change in the future.

I feel sorry for Felipe. I thought he had his share of bad luck but it's getting worse all the time.

I think Fernando is a more complete driver, but the difference in raw speed is not as big as the points lead us to believe. In fact I believe Felipe is very fast, but unlike Fernando things have to fall more in place for him to let him perform the way he can.
This year the car is not as good as it should be and Fernando can handle that better. Because of that Felipe is outqualified time after time although the difference is very small sometimes.
Besides that Felipe has had so much bad luck and crazy Hamilton this year that by the end of this season he must have had his share for the coming five seasons..

It is my belief that when Ferrari succeeds in building a winning and very balanced car for next year Felipe will be right on top again. Maybe Fernando is a bit too strong for him, but in a good car Felipe is fast, very fast.

It is also my belief that, if we like it or not (as some here sometimes seem to do), as long as Felipe is one of our drivers we have the obligation to support him and not bash him because just like Fernando he is a Ferraridriver who is giving his very best for the team. As far as I'm concerned, I like Felipe to stay Fernando's teammate for many more years because they form a perfect driverpair.

yeah I been thinking the same things pretty much the entire season, during the time of the race where everything is ok, he puts on laptimes right there with fernando, but then it always seems to happen something, and most of the times not his fault, not only the troublemaker pays, felipe pays even more, i think that domenicali and diMontezemolo are clever enough to look at the numbers, if we remove these incidents which aren't his fault of choices, i think there's a reason why ferrari has kept him, and seems like will keep him at least for another year.

PS besides the chemestry between our pair is great, and in a top team like ferrari it's very hard to have. i think he has been performing like button, but without the luck, and fernando does manage a little better, then again he hasn't been unlucky like felipe, which is great, it's hard enough having this happening to one driver, let alone 2

I think the car plays a big part in this.

Alonso has been faster which helped him avoid the mess at the back. Massa running a few positions behind would always be more prone to race incidents...

Clearly his and Alonsos car are different. When he has to push just to stay in 5-8 spot. The mistakes are coming. Hammi and co. are not happy to be behind Massa knowing the chance for podium or win is vanishing.

I feel for Massa. But nothing wrong in the teams choice to back one driver and make sure the other is not taking the valuable WDC points away. And its legal.

Massa should focus on getting up to speed instead of blaming Hamilton. Thats the easy way out for Felipe. Itīs nice to have someone else to blame when you donīt deliver the results, but there is no need for that. We all know Hamilton is out of control, but Felipe is putting to much energy in to this instead of the real problem.

LOL, how many times have other drivers been the cause for Felipe not getting a decent result this year? When people stop barging into him, then he can go about his business and bring home some good points.

Still, he hasnīt got a top 4 finish in all year. That is not all down to bad luck.

It's simple: Alonso is better than Massa.

I don't think anyone can say for sure what part "luck" has played in Felipe's results this year, but I feel, without bad luck, he could have at least had a chance of a podium on more than one occassion.

At the moment I think Alonso is better than every driver. And as I've said before, I don't think there is any driver who would do significantly better than Felipe if they were put in the other F-150

i'm hoping to see in the (not so distant) future and "lights to flag" win for Felipe - no from Lewser, no Fernando to move over for, nothing...just plain and pure Felipe!

I think he was top 4 in Monaco, Canada, Valencia and Germany before another driver or Ferrari ruined that.

Er... yeah, that's why I said that in my original post. Which is not the point of the thread.
