    Runner up to Vettel

With Vettle waiting to be crowned 2011 WDC, who do you think will take 2nd? If the performance in Singapore is anything to go by, then 2nd place will be between Jenson and Webber unless someone can fill me up with some reassurance that the F150 Italia will be able to fight for podiums in the remaining races!

I have total confidence in Alonso, just not his car.

On current form, Button will most likely finish 2nd, with Alonso finishing 3rd or 4th depending on Webber's performance.

Our huge update in Silverstone gave us good performance in the medium-high speed corners but poor mechanical grip - we get poor traction out of the slow speed corners and we are punished for it.

Circuits like Japan and India should suit us, but Red Bull will still stronger and probably McLaren as well. With Alonso driving our car, fighting with the faster cars is possible, until we use the medium tyre.

Its looking like button might end up second, unless hamiltons ups his game and wins a couple of races (that mclaren can take it to the redbull in race pace). If singapore is anything to go by (and if hamilton doesnt crash anymore) we will end up 5th.
Nando is hanging on to 3rd by a whisker. Dont think he can sustain that over the 5 remaining races.

No matter where Fernando finishes, it has been remarkable effort from him fighting neck to neck with these guys having comparatively superior car

If Alonso can't be second (and I think that would be a mighty task), I'd prefer Button or Webber. As long as we can get Alonso ahead of Lewis I'll be happy.

I also think Button has a better chance to be second than Webber, but I have a funny felling that RBR once it has secured Vettels WDC title they will help Webber finish second... Remember team orders can be used... They probably wont but I just have this felling.

    Agreed.

2nd is 1st of the losers.

At this point I only care about the WCC...

I think Button will get it, and I have to say it would be fully deserved.

Button definitely is a better driver than most have given him credit for in the past few years, but I feel his performance this season has been overestimated due to Hamilton underperforming. I believe both Alonso and Vettel are doing a better job extracting the full potential of their cars than either of the McLaren drivers.

I understand your point but isn't it rather unfair to judge Button by the yardstick of the fact that Lewis is incapable of matching him this season - or indeed why that is so? In reality it doesn't matter how you get your points as long as you get more than the other blokes. I always think of Jenson and Lewis as the tortoise and the hare. The fact that the hare is expected to win because of his approach takes nothing away from who is the more intelligent harvester of points.

I agree with this .... Button is much better than Hamilton ... anyday !!!! . He looks after his tyres too . Hamilton has to grow up a lot still !!!

I'd guess Button with the way he's driving, both he and Alonso would deserve it and I hope they are able to complete the top 3 because they have easily been the class of the field this year, along with Vettel. Webber has been utterly shameful considering the car he's driving and Hamilton has been off the boil since Monaco, Germany aside.

We didn't get the engine mapping banned, or else Vettel wouldn't have run away with the championship.

Nando's effort to get to where he is in the points table is, for me, genuinely amazing. In fact, I think his efforts this season in our car reinforce his status as the best al round driver in F1 today.

To the question posed, I think Webber is the most likely runner up this year.

If the top spot was not available to a Ferrari driver, then we can at least fight for second. There are still plemty of points up for grabs, and Ferrari should get plenty of those.
