    Flexible t-tray....

    http://scarbsf1.wordpress.com/2011/1...-saw-solution/

Now another new thing to debate after diffusers

Seems this might be the Red Bull secret to getting the front wing so close to the track and still passing the wing tests, McLaren are said to have it nearly working and in Korea some tyre marbles got stuck in it to stop it working, hence the comments that Lewis lost a mysterious 10% downforce.....

    So it's illegal then....

Actually I'm surprised that the FIA never required that the plank consist of one single piece. Surely it wouldn't work if they are not allowed to split the plank into 2 parts thus allowing the front plank to move along with with T-tray.

But if its going to remain that way, hopefully Ferrari will have such system ready next year.

Didn't we use to have something like this in the form of a flexi-floor back in 2007? Mclaren was quick to get it banned after getting Ferrari's schematics.

Sort of, but it was the bib-stays that supported the floor that were the buckle point rather than the t-tray itself if I'm not mistaken.

Absolutely awesome article. Scarbs is great. Like some of the comments have said, it's a wonder nobody has snapped him up yet.

    These designers are so clever.

If their previous logic was that "if it passes the tests then its legal" but it's now illegal and they are going to change the tests as a result of it, doesn't that logically mean it was always illegal?

Good to see it may all be negated though

Reading the replies to that article, it seems this secret might have been given away when Webber's car was hoisted in the air at Monza.

I'm sure Red Bull's logic will be that the FiA shouldn't "change rules" during the season.
